wtf? with all those recalls Ford Focus wins one of 10 Best Cars by C&D?

http://www.caranddriver.com/xp/Caranddriver/10best/2002/2002_10best_cars_ford_focus.xml

well, on the other hand,
my roomate has the stick-shift Zetec 130hp Focus SE Sedan. it drives quite nice and handle quite well without much body roll, while the interior looks okay. The car feels heavy though. I really don't have much to complain other than it is a Furd.
but well so many recent recalls, one must think how the hell did it deserve the ten best car among the rank of BMW 3 and 5 series and the Corvette???

If you like the model you like the model, people should never trick their brains into thinking (In Zombie tone voice) "I like Nissan, so even if they poop under the hood and call it an engine I like it no matter what"

But then if Ford (Real example here) makes the best 1-ton Diesel truck on the market "Well it sucks casue it's Ford" you just cut yourself off the best thing you could have had on the market due to being brand biased

see not good 😉

I think CD is biased on this one. Focus won the spot because it's American. CD probably feels that there is some kinda balance that needs to be maintained in the top 10. I think GTI and some other imports are way nicer than Focus. This happens to CNET too, where some Compaq cr*ps always have top honors. It's just unconceiveable to me. Compaq has the worst customer satisfatction ratings in laptops and still wins the top spot in laptops on CNET. Sometimes I rather hear from the people other than the professionals.

If a manufacturer paid enough money or gift to the editor/writer/reporter of the magazine, their car/truck will be the car/truck of the year. I do not trust those report any more.

I know that i made a fallicy there, but that's the ironic contradiction.
I am driving the car, it feels fine, but deep inside my gut I am like, "wait, this is a Ford, something MUST be wrong."

It is? I consider Focus to be more of an European Ford than an American Ford.

My pal has a Ford Focus and it runs great. People compliment him all the time on how it looks too. ('coarse he has put a lot of money into it, but it really does look great)

How many recalls does the NEW Focus have? I know the old 2000s had a lot but my friends have a 02 and I don't think it has had any.

The Focus gets top Billing accross Europe. By all accounts it's a good car, although I have a Golf(u can't get a 4WD Focus yet).

The New RS with 212Bhp and 227Ft/lb of Torque is a hoot, apparently, but 50% of all produced will go to the UK, so most other countries will have to fight for the rest of them😉. We love our Hot Hatches.

I've got a sloppy shifting auto 01 Civic, all cars have problems...even the high rated ones

the friggen side door in my Odyssey is starting to rattle....an 02 w/ 10K....this is exactly why I hate GM vans, but now Honda...DOH!

Frankly, I like the Matrix or Vibe better, but that's just me. Our family hasn't had any luck with American cars. We have a full size ford van and it keeps on needing to be taken in for various issues. We also have a '94 Integra that has over 180,000 miles on it and it has been very reliable and still runs great.
