wait... so is it $322 or not? that other article makes me confused..

Nintendo President and Representative Director, Satoru Iwata expects the Nintendo Wii price to be $322 in the US, which is about 250 euros, or 25,000 yen. Earlier announces from Nintendo indicated that the Wii price would be below $250.

I pretty much lost interest after they dropped the much cooler name "Revolution". Now it's just stupid. I mean, I'd feel embarassed asking to buy the damn thing with a name like that! But seriously though... when I read in the article that the controller is a one-handed motion-sensor-type thing... I would not buy it for $5. So I guess this issue of "is it $250 or $322" is unimportant to me.

Is it crowded in that small mind?

I'm small minded because I don't like one-handed controllers? Hmmm... thanks for clearing that up! I was sure confused for a while.

That's the Euro price, it's still going to be under $250 in the US

The Nintendo Wii price announcement comes as a shock for many video gamers who expected a price range from $200-$250.

I'd say Reuters is more reliable than the original site posted

I don't know, $322 seems a little too steep to me. Sure, it's a pretty neat and innovative little console, but I think I would get more bang for my buck in a Xbox 360 or PS3.

That was an unconfirmed rumor from a while ago, and I seriously doubt that any new gaming console would only be $170.

Reuters shows that the $322 is just the conversion of the 250 Euro pricetag. Seriously, does anyone expect them to actually choose $322 as opposed to $325, or $320?

Wow....I'm out of the loop on the console market, but geez....$599 for the PS3? I'm sure Americans are rich enough to buy this thing, but that's some severe sticker shock if you ask me. I remember when the NES came out and we all thought it was expensive 😛

Yeah, but here's to hoping. :wine:

Well if it was $170, who wouldn't buy it? I know I would be in line. New Metroid, Zelda and Mario games just to start, plus built in WiFi...

It's not going to be $322.

Things in Europe, especially electronics, cost more money. A continent wide 15-20% sales tax (which is already accounted for in the MSRP) doesn't help. Our UK friends can attest to this as well. Let's say that a monitor sells for $300 USD here...it'll sell for about 250-300 GBP and Euro as well.

I remember reading an article where the PS3's European price is going to be 599 Euro and 425 GBP. These convert to about $750 and $765 USD.

So please, stop freaking out.

August 23, 2006 - Though Nintendo has yet to announce final pricing or release timing for its Wii console, the company has at least committed to an upper limit: Nintendo has said its new system will cost less than $250 in North America and no more than 25,000 yen ($215) in Japan.

While many expected Nintendo to use this week's German Games Convention to announce a final price, the company remained coy. One tidbit did surface, however: according to Reuters, Bernd Fakesch, head of Nintendo's German operations, said he expects the Wii will sell in Europe for less than 250 euros (about $320).

Converted to dollars, the price looks steep, though consoles in Europe are typically more expensive, partly due to taxes. For instance, the Xbox 360 Core System retails for 299 euros, or about $385 - whereas the system is $299 in the States.

Interestingly, Fakesch said that Nintendo had not decided the exact date for the Wii launch, though that would come "in due course." The company hopes to sell 4 million units by the end of the year, and 6 million by March 2007.

Don't forget to adjust for inflation...which makes them quite a bit more.

if it goes for $199 i will buy it when it first comes out.

There's a lot of illiterate people, so this can't be said enough.

$322 IS NOT THE US PRICE. IT IS THE EUROPEAN PRICE, EXPRESSED IN US DOLLARS.

Sony PS2:
UK: £95 ($180) (?141)
Germany: ?130 ($166) (£88)
US: $130 (?101) (£69)

Xbox 360:
UK: £275 ($520) (?408)
Germany: ?388 ($368) (£261)
US: $400 (?313) (£211)

You do realize that is in europe... and it says they expect the price will be LESS than 250 euros... there is nothing confirmed and probably won't be until mid September. Last I heard Nintendo was announcing launch date and price around the 15th of September.

Change the original post! You have everyone getting confused and being misinformed now!

I was about to give up on it too. I'm picking a Wii up for sure if it's it's under $250. But if it's over that I'll just get a 360. Aint touching the PS3 with a 100 foot pole at that price.

I'm buying a Wii when it comes out.

I'm considering a 360, but I want to wait until there is a good library of GOOD games before I buy it. Not games that I can play on the computer. Gears of War looks really cool.

PS3? No thanks.

In general, I've always seen consoles sell overseas for the exact same number amount in dollars as in euros. So this rumor is BS.

The $170 is based on the exchange rate, which is also wishful thinking.

Reggie said less than $250. And we ALL know that "less than $250" is doubletalk for 249.99. If it was going to cost 199.99, he would have said less than $200.

So there you have it. $249.99.

As mentioned, this article is twisting words. The price should be <$250 in USD and Euros.

Zelda
Metroid
CoD3
Rayman
FF:CC
Metal Slug Anthology
Red Steel
Super Monkey Ball
Excite Truck
Trauma Center
Far Cry

Most of these sound better than most games already out for 360.

360 is not getting a price drop.
