WTF why is there sap coming out of this firewood?

I swear to god I bought the most ghetto firewood ever. I couldn't get it to start with any amount of newspapers, so even with starter logs I can't get it to start...and then I noticed there's sap coming out the end!! There's so much its dripping down into the fireplace!

I didn't know they made ghetto firewood. But this obviously is it.

I bought it at grocery store since I live in a city. I didn't know they would sell me ghetto wood.

It's supposidly oak. But if i remember biology correctly, all wood has sap in it, it acts as a flow of nutrients from the roots up and the leaves down. Some just has more than others.

sounds like the wood hasn't dried out

wet wood doesn't burn too well.

might have to let the wood "cure" for a while
