WTF Who gives jesus a birthday cake on xmas

I think some people do it for their kids' sake as a way of reinforcing that Jesus is real and alive. If you believe in the resurrection it makes sense, and it's something that young kids can relate to.

Wasn't Christmas originally a Pagan holiday and Jesus's birthday is on another date? Also that Jesus is a mistranslation of his true name?

Yeah, pretty much.

so does easter have anything to do with jesus or what?

Sarcastic question? It's the celebration of the resurrection (again, another commemorative day layered on a pagan holiday.)

Edited: I felt bad, so I removed these comments. Shouldn't have said this.

So do you rape, murder, and enslave the ethens and their children.

I think that's *ahem* a different major religion.

I know nothing about this crap but the roots of Christmas are buried in some Pagan Holiday celebrating the Winter Solstice AFAIK. Now fetch me a goat to sacrifice.

This is going to sound quite crazy to some, but I'll do my best to relate this.

Our family believes in Yeshua (Jesus). While December 25th is not the day He was born, it is the day that the Christian church has agreed to commerate or celebrate His birth.

A portion of the belief is that Jesus was born to give the perfect gift of His grace to mankind. Without this grace, mankind would have no hope of redemption with the Father.

The reason we exchange gifts on the day we celebrate the birth of Jesus is to honor His gift to us.

We also had a birthday cake for Jesus and sang Happy Birthday.

As much as anything else, we are trying to teach our children (through our daily life) to love God with all our thoughts, feelings and actions and to love our fellow man as Jesus has loved us.

I hope this helps.

Do you know how much better your question would sound if you eliminated the judgmental word "wacko"?

I appreciate your reply.

We are not Jewish by birthright, but I have been blessed to worship with a congregation (if that is the correct word to reference?).

I used the name Yeshua in reference to Agnostos Insania's post regarding the true name of Jesus "Also that Jesus is a mistranslation of his true name".

more importantly:

why, for so many years in a christian family, DID WE NOT HAVE A CAKE

christ, everyone loves cake, heres the perfect excuse to have one, why isnt it more common?

/still prefers pancakes and sausage over communion wafers and grape juice

So do you post anything worthwhile, or just troll a lot? <- question mark, the traditional way of ending a question
