really sorry to hear this. same thing happened with my Q9550. worked at 4.2 for a day and now won't go above 3.7.

I'm going to pull the CMOS battery out of my mobo and give it a shot...

Was your NB overheating? Heat can cause long-term damage to the northbridge, they don't throttle like CPUs do when they overheat. Instead, they just take the damage.
