You need a jack to do an oil change? How fat are you?

I've never changed the oil in a car that didn't need to be jacked up first. On my miata the car was too low to the ground to even get my shoulder under there let alone my head, and with my sister's accord the oil filter must be removed from the bottom. No way in hell anyone could fit under the car to change the filter without the car being raised.

I use ramps though, much more convenient.

I guess people come in all shapes and sizes, because I've never had to jack up a car to change the oil either. And every car I've owned the filter came off from the bottom.

So do cars, some are less than 5 inches off the ground.

I probably could change the oil without jacking it, but it makes it so much easier with the car raised.

Agreed. I also do prefer ramps when possible, as they're quicker than a jack and I do feel a bit safer :)
