A judge in the US state of Michigan has sent three children to a juvenile detention centre for refusing to see their father in a custody agreement.

Judge Lisa Gorcycae held the children in contempt of court, saying they would be detained throughout the summer.

She said the children, aged between nine and 14, had been "brainwashed" by their mother, according to NBC News.

Their parents have been involved in a bitter divorce and custody battle since 2009.

The Oakland County judge said the two boys and one girl can see their father, Omer Tsimhoni, while detained but not their mother, Maya Eibschitz-Tsimhoni.

Mr Tsimhoni is a traffic expert who works for General Motors, while Ms Eibschitz-Tsimhoni is a pediatric doctor.

Judge Gorcycae was reported to have told the family that it was one of the worst "parental alienation" cases that she has seen.

It is unclear how long they will be detained for.

Totally the wrong way to handle this situation.

The mom is a psycho and the dad clearly doesn't care too much or he wouldn't be in Israel when he's supposed to have the kids for the summer.

Shouldn't they just pen them up somewhere in a neutral area so both parents can come there and feed and play with them? Like those petting zoo things.

"But I do not apologize for — for not talking to him because I have a reason for that and that's because he's violent and he — I saw him hit my mom and I'm not gonna talk to him," the boy said, later telling the judge, "I didn't do anything wrong."

"No, you did," Gorcyca replied. "You — I ordered you to talk to your father. You chose not to talk to your father. You defied a direct court order. It's direct contempt, so I am finding you guilty of civil contempt."

After sending the older boy to Children's Village, Gorcyca gave the two younger children — a 10-year-old boy and a 9-year-old girl, a chance to go to lunch with their father in the courtroom cafeteria, but they refused even after their mother urged them to do as the judge ordered.

"I'll go with my brother then," the 10-year-old told the judge.

At another point in the hearing, Gorcyca berated the mother for brainwashing her children against the father.

"Your children — you need to do a research program on Charlie Manson and the cult that he has. Your behavior in the hall with me months ago, your behavior in this courtroom ... is unlike anything I've ever seen in 46,000 cases," said Gorcyca.

:hmm:

I wonder what the judge knows. Generally I'd expect a female judge to side with the mother and for people to believe the mother when abuse is alleged, but the mother must really be cray-cray for the judge to have it out for her like that.

My guess would be that at the very least the judge knows more about the case than we do.

The one sure way to end this bickering, of course, would be to cut the children in half.

tons of backstory.

this is more of a story where the mother brainwashed the children into not wanting to see the father. To the point the judge was left NO options on how to continue.

Sadly its not uncommon for one parent to try to alianate the other in situations like this.

Exactly.

Also there are consequences for not doing what the judge says.
