WTF, Uninterruptible Sleep?!

Well between my computer that thinks a drive w/ 12GB free is full and this, it has been a strange computer day. . .
XMMS crashed but left a process that just wouldnt die. I had to go to school, so I left the computer for about 8 hours. When i came back, the process was still there. I looked closer, and it's in an "uninterruptible sleep." WTF's that, and how do I kill it?

It's stuck in a kernel thread, usually waiting on I/O, and it won't be killable until that returns which if the kernel is confused may not be until you reboot.

Well either whatever it's waiting on has to wakeup or you have to reboot, a process in a D state can't be killed.
