So I have to edit 3 distinct *.ini files on a daily basis adding certain common lines to all of them (lots of them). And I've been having a problem that is really getting me quite angry. I can't f@#$ing copy paste from one notepad file to the other.

WTF is going on?!

Even copying from IE isn't working sometimes. I can't copy-paste links. I can't copy paste suggestions to problems to print in notepad so that I don't waste all the ink that printing directly from the forum entails.

Please help

Thanks

highlight selected text -> CTRL+C -> CTRL+V

right click selected text, 'Copy' -> right click, 'Paste.'

if that doesn't work... i dunno.

it won't do that.

after i copy from one...and go to the other file and right click, paste is greyed-out.

Are you sure the Control key works?

If nothing is stored in memory, the paste option won't be available.

If the Control key isn't working, the copy wouldn't work.

If the copy doesn't work, nothing will be stored in memory.

Eh?

By law, I'm required to ask: have you rebooted? Believe it or not I had a similar problem a while ago and that's what fixed it.

by law? lol

If he's using the mouse buttons to copy/paste, we can rule out things like keys not working or something like that.

Try loading the clipboard viewer program and see if it makes it to the clipboard.

Control panel/add remove programs/windows setup/system tools.

Notepad has a limit on the size of the file it can open and edit - I think the limit was 64K. Are the files you are working with that large? That could explain it. If so, NoteTab is a great replacement and it's free (as in free beer).
