What a bunch of wusses the Taliban are. They are supposed to be the rulers of Afghanistan but they don't have the balls to make bin Laden leave. They can only meekly "ask" him to leave. And now they want to "talk" with the US. What is there to talk about?? They can all go to hell.

Well, I believe, and DON'T quote me on this, but he helped them come to power, and also helped finance/financed them.

They left the descision up to a group of clerics, or religious leaders.

They said they want to do what will please God, not the US.

Did they really think that it would be good enough to ask bin Laden to leave? They are acting like a bunch of pussies because they are affraid of getting attacked by the US and are also affraid of offending bin Laden. Well, this is actually good, because if the Taliban actually agreed to hand over bin Laden then the US might let them stay in power in Afghanistan. Since they are acting like jackasses, the US should take this chance and wipe their asses out.

I could be mistaken but didn't the Taliban come into being and then come into power in Afghanistan *before* he moved there? Again, I'll have to check out some facts.

bomberman, so you are saying that bin Laden is actually the one that is in charge in Afghanistan.

Hmmm...what if Mullah Omar, the supreme leader of the Taliban, is actually Osama bin Laden himself? Omar has never been filmed or photographed so no one knows what he looks like. He could very well be bin Laden. How else can you explain the Taliban risking it's very own existence by harboring a man it can give up? That's is because that man is in fact the boss of the Taliban so of course he won't give himself up! Just some thoughts...don't get all crazy on me here.

Pyschological warfare is what is called. There is a reason for all the stock footage of the U.S. arsenal showing up in the news. I love clusterbombs. It is starting to sink in that Afghanistan is very lonely in the world. This isn't like its war with the Soviets. They are now about as isolated as they can get. If the FBI and other agencies are able to cut off the money transactions like the short sales, they will be really hurting. It takes a lot of money to keep officials in different countries bribed properly. When the money stops, so does the protection and cooperation. A few gunships with laser designators will bring their efforts to a screeching halt. The only ally that the Taliban have left is the coming winter and the bad weather associated with it.

Well the Taliban like ruling thier roost with an iron fist. If they hand over assama or make him leave, they will lose credibility with all thier militant islamic friends.

I hope they stay their damned course and don't hand over bin Laden. The world would be out of an excuse to annihilate them if they actually comply. Here is the world's opportunity to rid itself of the world's most oppressive and barbaric state.

<<I think he's the reason the U.S. back Afghanistan to fight the Russians but I might be way off so don't quote me on this.>>

Nope, it was Masood....and he was just recently killed by a suicide bomber.

Sandigga, I don't need to reconsider.

Would the world be a better place without the Taliban? I'd say probably.

And considering how they treat the Afghan people and women (public executions and amputations for stupid "crimes"), it would not be harsh at all. Bad people need to be dealt with harshly.

Do you think that if they had a chance, that they would hesitate for one second to destroy us? They would never give any American mercy, so why should we show mercy to them?

That's pretty easy for you to say. Are you in the armed forces? Or do you know anyone in the armed forces? They're the ones that are going to be fighting and dying if the Taliban don't give up bin Laden. I prefer they give him and his confederates up so that no more Americans have to die to bring him to justice.

We should not judge a country and relegion by our own beliefs.

Should they attempt to force their ideals on us, then that is a different story.

Currently, even though the Taliban's are harboring bin Laden (which makes them a target),
the treatment of the population as a whole within the country's borders is not the focus of the current issue.
