I wonder if there would be a place for a college that focused on tough academics, no grade inflation, no mahogany-paneled dorms or extravagant athletics or having a dozen full-time employees to do what 3 people could do... and charge a reasonable price. If I had the choice of spending $100K for a degree from a typical college or spending $40K from a school like the above, I'd gladly save the $60K and give up all the frills if I knew the school would have a reputation for turning out very skilled graduates, and a 3.5 GPA there would carry a lot of weight.

State Universities used to do that before politcal correctness, full athletic scholarships and government aid programs started to swell the ranks of unqualified students.

The University President should announce that the first round of budget cuts comes from the football program...

DO that and forget title 9 sports lol

Football programs sustain the rest of the universities athletic budgets. Talk about cutting of your nose to spite your face.

That why you cut ALL sports since the majority of programs lose money.

You do that if education is the most important thing though. ;)

Football brings in what % of the revenues? The texas example is great. A program that generated 87.5 million in revenues and cleared 65 million in profit. What do you want cut from that cash cow again?

What made you think education is a top priority at these universities anyways? Between paying college football players pennies for the millions they bring in and research grants being huge. The university system has turned into a public money maker with the student being a distant second place on the priority list.

There are already a few schools like that. Schools like Swarthmore and the University of Chicago come to mind as putting a lot of emphasis on academic rigor.
