My linux box is setup with a Epox 8KHA+ and a AMD 2400+ and has been running fine. I haven't turned it on for a week or so, but when I went to turn it on today it wouldn't boot. Upon powering up, the diagnostic LED immediately goes to FF which according to the manual either means an incorrectly inserted BIOS chip, incorrectly inserted card, wrong BIOS, or MB problems... Sometimes it will go to 26, which means unsuccesful overclock, but it wasn't O/C and actually have the BIOS setup for failsafe boot.
I can get the computer to boot if I clear the CMOS and set the jumper to 100mhz rather than 133mhz... When it posts it says CMOS Checksum error, and gives me the option to continue by hitting F1, and then will boot up after that. If I reboot the machine, I have to go through the same routine to boot the machine again.
I have pulled all cards but the video card, used a different video card, pulled the board completely out of the case, removed and swapped memory, everything to the same effect. I reflashed the BIOS without error or problem and still the same thing. Short of replaceing the MB, I seem to have run out of options. I visually inspected all the capacitors, none appear bulged or leaking...I replace the battery.... I haven't been inside the case since the last time I had the machine running, so no changes were made from the last time it was running.
I am at a total loss on this, and would appreciate any suggestions or input.
Thanks!
Dave
