WTF?! SETI stalled on one WU

Just realized its been over five hours and my computer was still struggling at 8% on one WU. I haven't been at the computer and when I don't use it, it usually does a WU in about 4hrs 30min. This is dropping the productivity like nothing else. Ofcourse I took this WU out immediately.

Can someone explain what the heck is going on here?

Try rebooting the computer, it has been known to just stall on a WU, and rebooting kick starts it again 🙂

If this doesn't happen, the next thing would be to delete the directory and start again, a drastic thing to do, but it may be the only way if it comes to it.

There are some bad/corrupted WUs floating around out there and eventually, you're bound to run into one... 🙁

I had one a few days ago that came up and said the estimated time to complete was 2 days 2 hours! :Q I tried closing SETI Driver, rebooting, no help. I deleted that wu and downloaded another and everything went back to normal. 🙂

This is what I had to do as well. I guess it gets stuck on a continuous loop.

SHIAT! Its doing it again. It is very counter productive. I'm not sure if its my computer or the WU is the culprit.

Anyone willing to try finish processing this WU so I can find out if the WU is at fault or not? PM me if you are nice enough to help me diagnose my problem 😀

In the last 3 weeks I have had 6 work units that took over 25 hours on a machine that normaly takes 10 hours. One work unit was going to take 70+ hours, deleted that one but not before it had already went for 20 hours, got to check my machines a little more often I guess.

Ok if you're intersted in tinkerling around with it, you can get this troubled WU from mywebspace. The WU is stuck at 10% or so.

The server can be EXTREMELY! slow so be patient when downloading it. I dunno why. Its not my fault.

If you choose to try it, it would be nice if you can report back how it goes.

I downloaded it also. Let you know what I get.

So far it has been running for 15min and is up to 16% the time is down to 1 day 12 hrs from 2 days 4 hrs.

Jerboy I completed that unit. Here is the info on it.
I certainly would check your power settings and what might be running in the background.😉
You might send out a thread to find out if others are haveing problems with ME that is the OS you are using right?

Are some of you saying even if it seems to appear stable and runs great and tests fine at 135MHz FSB, 1485MHz clock and 2.0-2-2CL memory timing, it could get into trouble like this whereas conservatively clocked system wouldn't?

I'm guessing overclockers doesn't have this kind of subtle issues in factor when they say rock stable.

That's still on the slow side ,I would of expected it to be done in under 10hrs.My Cel 366@550 does most WU's in about 10.25 hrs

Jerboy
That is possible if your cpu is overclocked to the limit ,try backing off the FSB a few MHz & see if that WU still gets stuck

Been seeing an awful lot of large WU's.

For a machine that normaly does a WU in a little over 6 hours. In the last week one of the servers has had 2x12 hours and 6x9 hours.

I have often seen WU's take ages to do a certain 5% but still finish within an hour or so of normal time.

There does seem to be a lot of "very large" WU's out there.

The machine I write this on has just taken 6 hours to do a WU when it normal average is 4.
