i saw one like that for Planet of the Apes and one for Juraissic Park 3. I know the novelty will wear off soon. It's a domino effect, it'll happen more often, at alot more sites.

I don't see that, only a normal sized banner ad at the very top of the page. And that one isn't really annoying.

it was so horrible.. it was transparent, advertising die hard on dvd, took about all the space the first three news articles take. It was flashing and blinking and everything :Q:disgust:

Not seeing it here either. Maybe the proxy is filtering it, but all the other flash ads have gone through...

I've always said the death of a site could be forecasted by the increase in annoying ads. Unfortunatly, bandwidth is expensive...

On another note, Yahoo is using pop unders now

oh wow...i just saw it! looks nifty...if u are an artist. geez that sucker is big. it took about 5 secs to finish and about 2 headlines at the top.


although it did offer to close the ad if u clicked a button. but even this option was like 2 secs into it.

There is an American Pie 2 ad like that where a flute goes across the screen and then Alyson Hannigan goes by, made me laugh the first time I saw it after that I look for the close button usally located in the top left corner of the screen.

any of ign.com's websites have them and it's so friggin annoying i just stopped visiting. i mean what the hell is with their advertising? a big ass monkey thing pops up and makes a lot of noise and makes me wait before i can do anything else. or worse, you click on a link and it takes you to a page and it says view this sponser page for 5 seconds then click to continue to the article, and you cant click for 5 seconds. screw that guys. it may be a tough web and hard to make money but that's what porn and warez sites do.
