I died in RTCW, (dont laugh), with my Radeon 8500, and then BAM!!! it wont do anything at all, it just has a black screen waiting for me to restart, it was fine with my Matrox, I'm so itchy to just format my hdd, and start off clean, but does anyone know how to fix this!?!??

It is highly recommended that when installing a new device such as a vid card which is a major component to do a clean install. It is likely reminence of the matrox vid card lie in registry and may be causing some of the issues...Unless you can clean the registry and stuff thoruoughly, reinstall os...

You might want to try removing and reinstalling RTCW with the radeon installed first before a new OS reinstall.

Also, make sure you remove Matrox's old drivers by going to add/remove programs.

You kidding?? I have died A LOT of times   . I dont have any problems at all with it crashing. When I die, it does a fade to black, then starts up again. BTW, I'm running Win2K as well.

Yeah the AI is pretty good for the snipers, paratroopers and elite guards. I was surprised how many times I died on normal difficulty level, even in the second time I finished the game.

What a great game. :)

I haven't played it that much yet. I'm in the crypt 2 map I think. Those flame thrower zombie guys are pretty cool. Awsome graphics in this game!

Then you're in for a real treat. I won't spoil it for you but needless to say you have a lot of interesting and excellent missions ahead of you.

This game is definitely in my top 3 list of FPS games.

It's cool so far. I see some things that are like NOLF (Tram ride, conversations and notes). The Crypt can be pretty creepy. Like Half-Life, I like battling it out with the soldiers more than the monsters. One of the better games I've played in awhile.

An early Christmas present from Mrs. Oldfart :)

Hope you have a great Holiday season as well!

Yeah, the game is quite similar to NOLF in many respects. Also I absolutely loved the catacomb levels with the zombies. The exploding shower of blood and flying bones is awesome when you mow them down with machine gun fire. :)

I see they brought back the chicks in black leather from Half-Life. There are a bunch of them kicking my arse in a church.

Actually, I also had this problem in 2K, now I am in XP...Anyway, what I did was quickly quick the "quickload" buttonm RIGHT after I died...If I waited too long, nothing would happen and it would freeze.

Yeah, those chicks (Elite Guard) are quite good opponents and their Stens are really deadly. It gets a little easier later on because you get more powerful weapons. For now, stick to the MP40 or Sten and try to get in as many Mauser shots as possible.
