WTF! Quickbooks 2003, now you have to pay to bill your clients.

Quickbooks Billing

My aunt has a pool cleaning business, and she has been using this program for many years. I helped her get a great deal on a new computer, however, She (not to computer savvy) just went to the store and asked for the software that she would need. So of course they keyed in on her dumbness and loaded her with $$$s in software. Supposedly its a "mandatory" upgrade. Anyway, she has been emailing her clients their bills every month, now Intuit is charging $14.95 A MONTH + fees to do this. Hell, MMORPGs are cheaper than that. I could possibly understand if the program were perhaps, free, and then they charged you, but no, they charge $299.99 for the software.

I myself do not use the program, but I can surely understand her frustration. She is already paying $22.95 for internet, and for a pool cleaning business, income is only steady during the summer.
Just thought I would let everyone know before they upgrade.

Well, I guess they have to supplement their income stream somehow after the TurboTax backlash last year.

So, they are going to try kill off Quickbooks as well?

Apparently you can pay if you shoose to use the additional services provided by Billing Plus or Deluxe Billing.

Make sure that she does not need those services.

E-mail does not cost anything according to the chart - it is the setup for confirmation of reception that the charge is for. I suspect that they force an opt-out situation for these services. Check her setup.

Also, if she was sold S/W as a mandatory upgrade and she did not need to upgrade, then she may wish to void the purchase. Unless there was a bug in the program or it requires current tax info, the previous version should work fine.
