WTF... Part of my 8gb SDHC card cracked off and fell into my D80

I couldnt figure out why my Nikon D80 stopped reading memory cards and had a difficult time ejecting them...

Turns out part of my 8gb A-Data SDHC card cracked off and fell into the memory slot of the camera.

I can honestly say, i've never seen a broken SD/SDHC card before, guess there is a first time for everything. The piece that cracked off is near the tip you insert, so one of the blue ridges is now free to move and eventually crack off.

That's a bummer for sure. Looks like a trip to a Nikon repair facility to get the piece out of the camera.

This is the second A-Data problem in a week in this forum.

In the future, stick to quality devices from SanDisk, Lexar, etc. Avoid el cheapos. They are often cheap because of low or absent QC.

Actually, a small amount of jiggling released it from inside so its all good now.. I still can't figure out how that piece cracked off.... What's weird is that it works fine, just is very fragile...

Any idea what A-Data's warranty is?
