I couldnt figure out why my Nikon D80 stopped reading memory cards and had a difficult time ejecting them...

Turns out part of my 8gb A-Data SDHC card cracked off and fell into the memory slot of the camera.

I can honestly say, i've never seen a broken SD/SDHC card before, guess there is a first time for everything. The piece that cracked off is near the tip you insert, so one of the blue ridges is now free to move and eventually crack off. :(

Wait, this isn't the 8GB card that I sold you, is it? I remember selling 8GB SDHC cards to AT people...

Sorry if it is :(

Lifetime warranty FTW?

That's a bummer for sure. Looks like a trip to a Nikon repair facility to get the piece out of the camera.

This is the second A-Data problem in a week in this forum.

In the future, stick to quality devices from SanDisk, Lexar, etc. Avoid el cheapos. They are often cheap because of low or absent QC.

Actually, a small amount of jiggling released it from inside so its all good now.. I still can't figure out how that piece cracked off.... What's weird is that it works fine, just is very fragile...

Any idea what A-Data's warranty is?

?SD/ CF/ MMC/ mini SD/ MMC Plus: these memory cards bought from 2005/7/1 and are covered by a life-time warranty.
