I'm a reform Jew, but I've never heard of this before. Ultra-Orthodox jews make up a very small percentage of total Jews, though, and the majority of them are in Israel.
 
I'm not sure what you expect the few Jewish members to explain. These ultra-orthodox Jews make up a very small percentage of an already small number of Jews (There are only around 14 million Jews).
