3DMark sucks. Its no way to test the performance of a gfx card. Scores can be fixed. Its no indication of real world performance.

OMG, I just realized that I haven't even run 3dmark2003 in like....several months. I ran it on my GF4 Ti4200 to see the nifty graphics (slideshow actually), and then again later on my (then new) Radeon 9700 Pro. Much faster; still a bit jittery, but nice. Sort of a nifty thing to watch; I don't give it much more credence than that. I guess I just like downloading and running demos that show off what the videocards can and can't do.
But when comparing relative performance with changes in your system, it is very useful.
Max Payne for example was made by a partner of Futuremark, designed together, both of the founders used to belong to Futurecrew, wouldnt be surprised if games would be based on the engine like beforeOriginally posted by: Acanthus
I respected 3Dmark when they used REAL GAME ENGINES that were coming out in the future. Like Mercedes Benz Trick Racing, Max Payne, and Dragothic was taken from Theif II if im not mistaken. Its been a long time since ive read the credits, but the companies are listed there. I know for sure Lobby was based on the max payne engine.
Anyway 3dmark 2k3 is completely proprietary and doesnt represent performance for ANYTHING as far as i know.
That's just my way of responding to the question about if anyone even cares anymore 😉Originally posted by: AkumaX

Or at least make it based on REAL game engines! It's almost worthless now and I'm sick of the contraversies and crap too!
