Yep.. another monopoly in the works..

Anyone willing to bet that the NV20 will cost upwards of 600 dollars and not do much more than the GTS?

no eyor...this is true with links...

Hardware doesn't usually post truth ;)

lostnthenet, I saw your post, but you just said Rumor, you didn't have links to biz.yahoo.com proving it..

I'm going to give nVidia the benefit of the doubt, hopefully they will continue to push the enevlope, but with ATi as their only competitor who knows....

Guess this settles my GF2 Pro vs V5-5500 decision....
think that the GF2 Pro will get a glide wrapper now? ;)

man this really sux... I like nvidia and 3dfx but this merger smells bad to me. I honestly hope it doesnt happen... although their combined technologies would rock... its bad for the consumer. Plus, there is something inspiring about 3dfx... after all they are the one's who basically brought affordable 3d acceleration to the masses...

its a sad day in computer history today....

Nvidia probably wanted this all along, watch 3dfx bleed until its almost dead, then swoop in and pick up the remains for chump change. Business can be ugly.

The key clause is that 3dfx will drop its litigation against nVidia. I think that is the main reason nVidia is interested in the deal.

PS: does this mean I get my Rampage & Fear, or not? Will these products see the light of day?

lostnthenet: The reason you got no response was that you didn't bother posting it, you just changed the title of a different post you had about the lights being out to save money.

I didn't have the links yet. Good find. I just know someone who works for 3dfx, but was told today that they are fired as of 2-12-2001.

what will happen to rampage/fear? I think they will still come out due to the fact that they are right around the corner... maybe nvidia will market them under its own name... Nvidia Voodoo 6... sounds interesting.. I hope the technology does come out though, i for one was really looking forward to it.

I'm thinking that nVidia will use the technology and call it the GeForce 4 VTS 512 ;)

<< 7. What happens to the 3dfx and Voodoo brands?
As of the signing of the definitive agreement, both the 3dfx and Voodoo brands become property of NVIDIA

The fat lady has sung, hell has frozen over, there's a pig flying outside my window, and an Nvidia Voodoo 5 5500 on store shelves.
