WTF. No one told me there's a snow delay.

people in the north east.... 30 inches of snow. no delays no cancellations... life goes on.

people in other parts of the usa... snow dusting of less than 1 inch. 2 hour delay. closings and cancellations all over.

moral... if you dont live in the northeast (from Pa to maine)... your a wimp.

What if you used to live in the north, but don't anymore?

Its pretty bad when you forecast an inch of snow with 30 degrees and
Stores start running out of bottled water, canned foods, and batteries.
Lowes runs out of snow shovels and salt.
Gas stations run out of kerosene.
People breaking out the tire chains.
The kids arent out playing in the snow, there all afraid of frostbite.

Its just a little snow... its not nuclear winter.

I was mad yesterday... normally we'll get out for a foot of snow, but we didn't yesterday... life as usual... after i dug my car out.

Pass me some of that doob, because around here, 24 hours after it stopped snowing, a lot of the roads were STILL a clusterf***. PA is just far enough outside the Northeast that a little snow still wreaks havoc.

Reminds me of the time I visited Dallas and they had an ice storm.

The next day, the only 2 people that showed up for work were myself and my co-worker who's also from the "snowbelt".

I will admit it was bad, since they don't use salt...just sand... but nothing some careful driving couldn't get through.

Dallas was basically shut down for 2 days.... we had no problems though. lol

Call me when you have 20 days of 100F+ temps in a row. And make sure you tell me about that 2.0 earthquake that rocked the region.

We've had 20+ days of 100F weather back in 89, and i dont remember the last earthquake we had here in pittsburgh, but its been within the last 50 or so years.
And then there was that 3 mile island thing..... oh yah.

I remember a few years back when it snowed like 3", melted, froze overnight snowed another 6", all within the time school was out in the afternoon and the next morning. Oh how fun it was to drive on sheer ice, could do donuts even with a fwd car. I remember driving by a ditch and seeing 3 people there pritty much in the same spot, made me laugh. Up heres in Duluth, we get 40"+ a year and UMD is has yet to cancle a day (unlike the Community College back home). I remember it snowed 16" in two days and me and a few friends skipped class to get to the local ski park

Does your snow come attached to 1000' cliffs? My family took some other family upto Tahoe (an hour and a half drive) thinking that since they lived in Michigan, snow wouldn't bother them. They refused to drive back in the dark.

And it only takes one snowball to figure out that unlike Sierra Nevada snow, Michigan snow doesn't have the same impact when it hits you like a baseball.

Sounds a lot like erie snowbelt snow. no cliffs, but the warm lakes, makes the snow wet heavy and packed. ever try walking through a knee deep grape slushie?

yea, i think the Penn state has only closed like twice since it was started for weather.
92 Snowicane? Open.
But I remember they did close during the 01 ice storm. Coated everything with 8 inches of solid ice.

I make fun of my southern cousins when they get shut down by 0.5" of snow. They make fun of me when people die in the summer because it is 100 degrees out.

It just isn't economically feasibile for them to be prepared for any significant amount of snow. I doesn't happen enough for it to matter. It's cheaper to shut the city down for a day than it is to have the salt trucks and crews on hand to deal with it.
