Wtf, no gas?

An attendant at an EZ-mart just screwed me out of $20 gas. Stranger talked to me for few minutes right before I started pumping.. took me about 3-4 minutes to pump. The attendant said I waited too long to pump - now I lost my $20. Can he do this?

Absolutely not.

No, it's illegal. Call your CC company and refute the charge. Also, call the store manager and complain, along with the BBB.

But, sometimes, if you use your debit card, they place a $20 "escrow" on your card and will charge you the actual amount spent when the transaction finishes.

Shit you fell for the oldest trick in town. The "Stranger distracts you" in cahoots with the attendent scam.

I still don't get how you lost the money.

You said you pumped it after talking.

The pumps around here dont charge until pumping is complete.
If paying cash, you pump then go inside to pay. Payment always comes after pumping.

Not a single gas station around here will let you pump first, they stopped that years ago after too many folks just drove off when the attendant wasn't watching..

I guess your parents never taught you not to talk to strangers.

I have this habit of ignoring everyone in the world when I'm in the middle of doing something. Some people get super pissed off at me when I do this. I say this everyone, including my parents, fuck off I'm busy.

Doesn't matter if the attendant isn't watching. The whole station is monitored by security cameras. They know your license plate as soon as you drive up. All of the people who do that end up in jail so the only people left are the ones who pay.

lol the station was probably closed considering it was Christmas. This was probably some random guy pretending to work there so he can take people's money and not deliver anything.

I've raised hell over screwed up Mcdonalds fries, and got it fixed much easier than you'd think, and you walked out of a $20 lol.

It actually happens ALOT more lately, some businesses are run pretty bad.

are you the same guy that manages to receive facebook and other online accounts through your gmail, inexplicably, despite never having registered for such accounts, through your email?

Seriously. There is no time limit on pumping gas.

For credit cards there is. Swipe your credit card and it will say select a grade of gas. If nothing is selected after a short period of time, it cancels the transaction and you need to swipe your card again. It's a good security measure. If it didn't do that, a guy might swipe is card then drive off without pumping gas then the next guy gets free gas, paid by the person who just left without filling up.

Facebook, smartphones, I think they turn some people into idiots. It was cash lol. You don't just walk away from a $20. You really shouldn't walk away from a gas pump you just swiped but technology has your back! yeah!

I do hate over-engineered stuff. I was sitting in a 2011 Malibu rental car listening to the radio with the car off and opened the door to dump a drink I didn't want and the radio turned off because of course there is no reason to EVER have the radio on with the door open. There was a ton of tripwire automatic stuff programmed into that car. I was more afraid of the car locking itself with the keys inside than the car saving me from myself that is for sure lol. I actually prefer older cars like pre~ 2004 or 2002. Are some people really that helpless?
