d/l the new company of heroes patch (1.7GB), went to install it and wham, it deleted my game, but now i have no idea where the hell the files are, just missing like 4GB on my hdd....anybody else have this problem?

edit:
RESOLUTION:

ok, got it rectified - first, the patch is 1.7GB - you go into mp and it will d/l it for you so it is not like i went to thq and d/l the wrong one, the f*cker is that big

it seems like they basically rewrote the whole thing and now there are options for dx10 (but i don't know why they are showing up on a xp machine w/ only a dx9 card...) but anywho the whole game is now more refined - better gui, graphics are cleaner and it appears they did some tweaking down low as i got a bit better performance when running the in game demo/bench, not much, but ~5fps average more so they didn't do anything to harm the gameplay.

why it deleted my whole game - the drive that this game is on is my main drive which is a 36GB 15k scsi drive, i had ~10GB open and figured there should be no issue and all should be fine. this is not the case - you need more than 10GB open on the hdd , so on my reinstall i installed it on my D drive which is a 300GB 15k scsi hdd w/ about 250GB open and no issues whatsoever and the nice thing is is that you don't have to re-download the patches again - they are kept on your machine in the C:\Documents and Settings\userXXX\My Documents\My Games\Company of Heroes\Patch folder, so that will save you some time if you have the misfortune i had.

I saw the change list and it was pretty huge. Even though. With a file size that big wonder if they did some engine adjustments.

You sure you didnt accidentally download the demo or something? 1.7GB is effing huge for a patch. Basically sounds like a rewrite of the entire game.

Think its the demo you got

"The single-player demo (1.8GB) includes the Tutorial and 2 full SP missions. The Allies and Axis are both fully playable in Skirmish mode with full tech trees and all Commander Trees. "

Yeah man ! I saw that just yesterday, that patch is HUGE ! I mean, without exaggeration there HAS been RECENT expansion packs smaller than that. I almost fainted when I saw the size of it. But let me tell you this: It's damn worth every kilobytes of your HDD and seconds your time.

No, the file he's talking about really is a patch (2.101) and it's evidently screwing up a lot of games. From what I've read, it may be due to the new copy protection but no one was sure. Some people can't even get CoH working after a reinstall.

I would hold off on installing the patch until Relic remedies the problem.

Holy crap, I have to go download this? Good thing I'm on my Uni's connection, I'll just leave it on overnight...

Still, they must have practically rewritten the game...

HEY!! Maybe its so that the normal CoH players can play with the new Opposing fronts ones? Maybe its so big because it includes the two new factions.

A brainwave i had whilest reading Opposing fronts reviews and considering buying it.

Bingo. I was going nuts too when I saw that, but I just went out for dinner, came back and it was done.

The patch really switches up the way the game works. Now you log into your Relic Online account when you start the game. I know that OF does some thing where if you're connected to the net you don't need the CD otherwise you do so I guess this is that implementation.

edit: Oh yeah, the Panzer Elite are hardcore. The Germans finally have decent artillery.

That's good. Some of my best moments in the campaign where making fortified lines and then just watching the screen as the artillery serenade sung out.
