wtf.... need to use my modem to foil my drunkeness

my modem used to ring through my speakers when someone called my house.... this was useful b/c when the gf called, I could stfu the party and answer and act normal...

well the party ended early tonight.... lol its a monday.... but I'm still kick'in it with the mdr700's and the audigy2, but I'll piss the girlfriend off to high heaven if I dont hear the phone...

anyone know how to make my modem ring my analog out? 😀

PLEASE

oh, its windows xp and a generic 56k dell fax modem if that helps. I also have 4x 10/100 controllers on an intel tulip card but I dont think they're realted

you connect your computer to a phone line?

Why would you do that?

COmcast sucks
THe university lan is worse
sometimes I revert to a dialup line I have to the NOC where I work when things get really bad 🙁

Failover for broadband is handled at my loadbalancer, but when the loadbalancer stops forwarding packets, my main pc steps in and forwards packets to the dialup for my server

phone line?? what is that??

I have a cell phone, and wireless computer connection...I don't know what this phone line is...maybe your using an archaic pronunciation...I think you mean Land line....😉

someone plese help me find it 🙁

Hrm, this could be a useful feature, might have to dig my modem out of the attic if it's easy to set it up like this. My phones (280s, e2cs) are both sealed and I often listen to my speaker system at volumes which make it difficult to hear the phone.

Yeah...it's actually not a bad idea, but I don't have a non ISA modem and no computer here with speakers has an ISA slot, so I'll have to do without. 😛
