WTF???!!! My RC5 stats have dropped all to hell!! :( :( :(

NFS4

No Lifer
I don't know that the hell is going on. I noiticed that my numbers were a bit lower than usual during the updates, so I looked at the status window from the taskbar icon and my numbers have dropped DRAMATICALLY--almost half in some case. I ususally swing between 1.8kkeys/sec and 2.1kkeys/sec on a daily basis (this being taken from the white box that pops and shows "completed pack..etc.). Now it is showing between 986.1 and 1.5 :|:|:|

I don't know what the hell is going on. I haven't installed anything that would lay the smack down over the past week. The only thing I have really installed is J++ 6.0

Athlon 600 @ 735
Win2k

played more games/mp3's lately? (mp3's are almost negligable at this point however). Virus? We've witnessed members who noticed a virus due soley to the lowered RC5 rate (and thus increase in processor usage from an unknown source).

Any other clues?

I've been playing MP3's no more than usual. My system is about as rock solid as can be. I have ZoneAlarm for my firewall and run The Cleaner 3.1 (trojan cleaner) and Norton AV 2000.

Yes, but its the standard black screen/Windows logon password thing. No major CPU time there.

Nope, I haven't changed a damn thing 😉

Under task manager, the only programs taking up CPU time are:

dnetc (RC5, duh🙂): 90%
TCA (TC Active - The Cleaner trojan scanner): 10%

When my PDA is hooked up:

dnetc: 83%
TCA: 7%
WESCOMM: 10%

This is the way that it has always been...

I had a similar problem with one machine. A reboot took care of it.
I noticed the trouble with a personal proxy stats analyzer.

I've rebooted quite a few times 🙁

If this ain't fixed by tomorrow morning...format and reload 😉

J++ has a debugging program... It's a TSR and you will have to disable it for sure to gain some of your original speed back... How this is done depends on your version.

Good luck!
