WTF! My puter just auto shut itself!

I was typing up an email and all of a sudden...this motherf@cker just shut itself down!! And in orderly fashion!!! When I reboot, it didn't give me an error message....so I think it's still cool right? no?

Wouldn't worry bout it unless it happens again.
Have you run the usual checks for trojans? Do a lot of ppl use the machine? If so, someone could have set it up to auto-reboot at a certain time or whatever as a prank.
Kinda odd considering you said it was a normal shutdown, and came back up without a scandisk/chkdisk, unless you have those turned off. Have you modified that? (Where if the machine is shut down improperly that chkdisk doesn't occur upon reboot)?

Thats windows fer ya. Windows ALWAYS has some quirks that I just can't understand at times. Can't speak for macos or linux

last time my computer auto-shut itself off, about 10 seconds later , the power supply blew up. So you appear to be having better luck than me.

This happened to me as well under windows xp on a compaq laptop. Never knew why it happened as well =(
