My neighbor is a stubborn ass. He's one of those tough-guys that doesn't like to go to the doctor. If he gets hurt on the job site (electrician) he comes home and fixes himself. He's a good guy, but sometimes he'll bork it and something gets infected, blah blah blah.

Anyway, I just found out that he's refused to go to the doc until this Friday. He's had a fairly large lump just behind his testicles. His wife thinks it's a budding hurnia (sp?) because of the pain he's in most of the time, but he thinks it might be cancer. WTF. "I think it might be cancer" but he won't go to the doctor? Jesus christ. You've got a wife, a son in HS, and a son in elementary school, dammit. :| Get checked!

:( I hope everything turns out okay. :(

Cuts and bruises are one thing. A cancerous lump is another.

I can understand his motivations for not going for the former, as they will heal on their own. However, the cancer will kill you without treatment, no matter how tough you think you are.

Well, odd shiot. He was working with wiring and stuck his finger one morning. It didn't bleed all day and swelled up a little bit. He came home, sat down on the couch with a steak knife, and cut his thumb open to pull the broken wire out. :Q Kinda weird, but it was one of the coolest things I've ever seen. He didn't make a sound.

I hope he does not try that with the lump!
:Q

Furthermore, if he does, I hope you are not around watching!

Yup. Sat with the TV on in a pair of shorts and a smoke hanging out of his mouth. He had his hand over several napkins on the coffee table, but he dug that fugger out, threw it away. I don't remember how he closed it up, though. I was over there to borrow some tools to work on my truck and left before he did anything else with it. Although I imagine he'd do something like super glue it closed. I've done that before. It works like a charm. :)

If he is in alot of local pain in that area it might not be cancer...

testicular cancer doesnt hurt a whole heck of alot unless it is a pretty big tumor.

just my .02 cents

Medical glue is a lot safer to use. :p

Actually super glue works quite well. The liquid stitches product by J&J, Dermabond, is a derivative of the chemical in super glue.

that's what I'm thinking. Either he's afraid of doctors/hospitals in general, or he's afraid that the lump is cancer, and that he's dying.

Definatly. The same thing happened with my uncle. It took us about 6 months of begging him to go to the doctor for him to eventually go just to get a friggin biopsy.

While I'm not a fan of the doctor, nor am I a fan of getting a finger jammed in my rectum, I am a fan of living and would goto the doctor ASAP on this one.
