I switched my vehicles 1 month ago and the rate I got was $1380. Recieved the bill today and my new rate is $1580. Called geico representative and they say that the risk index on my car went up. I'm having hard time believing that the rate changed by that much within 4 weeks. Argh, time to look for new company.

Went from 97 Camry to 2003 Mercedes C230. The $1380 was the rate for the new car.

Sorry I misunderstood. Well what they do sometimes is that they give you a quote that is not based on the driver history, just the car/neighborhood etc. Once they find out that you have any past accidents/tickets, they bump it up a notch. It happened to me as well, except i expected it since I knew they hadn't run a driver check on me and were giving me a quote. I did have one speeding ticket and once they found out, they bumped it up a bit.

Could that be your scanrio?

I really doubt that's the case since I've been with them for 2 years now and they know my driver history. Looks like they used lower quote to lure me in and then jacked it up on me, hoping that I'll be too lazy to switch companies.

What he said. The fact is that if you're male, under 25, not married, you drive an expensive and/or sporty car, you're probably going to get reamed, in addition to taking into account the area you live in, driving record, etc.
