WTF??? Maxtor HD in Anand's High-End Gaming Rig???

For a "High-End Gaming" rig, an 80gb Maxtor Drive was selected... wtf???

Given the nature of the category price shouldn't be too much of an issue (since GF4Ti4600 is used...) why not choose one of the WD "Special Edition" drives? AFAIK the performance of these drives is far more superior than anything IDE and competes with some SCSI drives... why go for maxtor then when the difference is only of circa $50...???? 😕 😕

That's a good question. I certaintly would of and will go to the WD Sp. Ed. drive for my next gaming rig.

the performance will not even be close...

yeah the PC2100 over PC2700 is also another oddity in that list....

i am perplexed also. Gamers want good sound card their games so we want sound cards not no integrated sound. Heck i hate anything integrated. The HD as a Maxtor i don't know why they did that either the 80 gig WD 8 mb of cache HD would of been better to put it in there sense its faster. The PC-2100 DDR ram i do not like either. They should of put at least PC-2700 in it for overclocking. To get some more performence in games.

Yeah the integrated audio is quite disturbing... although he did go far out and buy the more costly Logitech Z560's instead of the Z540's ... I mean for integrated sound that's quite a big leap to take...

Yep, not what I would recommend. Was he trying to keep costs below a certain point?

well if he was trying to save costs he did it in the wrong places... gainward gf4ti4200 overclocks very well (quasi-4600 lvls) and is a lot cheaper. why he went for the 4600 in the first place is beyond me... with the 9700 aboot to hit shelves in a couple weeks.
