I've had my computer encoding a movie for 2 days straight and while I was splitting it into 2 sections so I could burn it onto a cd my computer just decided to shutdown and restart. Windows closed all my programs and shutdown for no reason whatsoever! Anyway it restarts and I get greeted with a nice little message saying "Fixed disk failure". I pressed the reset key and it seemed to work...... as it was booting up windows it runs scandisk and says it fixes one file........ Is my hard drive failing? It hasn't been making any clicking sounds or anything. Could writing to a hard drive for 2 days nonstop damage it?

my 60gb of the same variety failed on me, and yes i was doing some heavy hd activities, such as disk utitilites every week or so (thorough scandisk and defrag) plus some heavy encoding/video editing. it started to get louder and louder, then just croaked.
