WTF just happened in Smallville?

I was flipping between American Idol and Smallville when I see Lana kicking Chloe's butt all over the school and then trying to murder her with an axe. WTF is going on in that show? Why isn't she in jail for that?

Yep...every night in my dreams.

To answer your question, Lana was unconsciously taking commands from someone, and they instructed her to kill Chloe. nobody died, they opened up the storyline a TON (LOIS LANE!!!), and they had a great ending.

Awesome ep.

1) harddrive in the computer didn't have a power cable going into it -- just the ide. when she pulled the ide cable the computer shut off.
2) clark can afford a laptop even though his family is always in danger of losing the farm. he also has wireless access which implies they get cable internet -- riiiiiiight.
3) when they searched for where the e-mails came from they traced it to "Chloe Sullivan's Computer" because all computers have a unique ip address even though the e-mail was sent from a different one than when Chloe uses it.

just a few, and i know -- who really cares. we all watch the show for the hot chicks anyway. speaking of which...who was that brunette? she was very nice

Anyway...

1) Yes, very stupid. Even if the hard drive had been powered it might have been abruptly formatted with the way she pulled it out.
2) I think Clark had the laptop given to him for doing something/saving someone. I'm not sure though 'cause for the longest time I just didn't get any WB affiliates. The internet is a very curious thing, though I vaguely remember something about the entire town being wired up for wireless as some sort of Lurthercorp Community Service bit. Or maybe it was for Lex's convenience. Whatever, still pretty sloppy.
3) Yeah, really, really unrealistic. I could believe it if they'd somehow tracked the mac addy, but even then it wouldn't add up because Molly only took the frikkin' Hard Drive, not the network card. She wasn't even using the same ISP. Just... geeeeeehhhhhhhhh. It's almost as if they went out of there way to be really stupid about that, because if they'd traced it to Summerholt... Suthholm... whatever the hell... it would have progressed the plot just as well.

And let's not forget the other overwhelming flaws in the plot. Number one, any techie worth half his/her salt will know how to fake a familiar e-mail address, so the recipient will open the damn attachment that runs the magical computer-brain-hypno thing. And an e-mail address like "brainwave@mastermind.com"? Oh yeah, I'm really going to open that, especially from a domain I've never heard of before with a mysterious attachment. Of course maybe, maybe you could argue she used some of Outlook's glaring security holes to run the attachment without checking first. But that doesn't make it a sure thing.

Yeah, you have to suspend your disbelief in order to enjoy shows like this.

I missed it due to college basketball overtaking the channel, followed by Enterprise (UPN & WB share the same channel here), but luckily it will be on saturday! With all of the hilarious points made, imma definately have to watch!!!

1) Yeah dumb.
2) Some schools actually rent/loan out laptops to students. These very well might have WiFi cards, but I didnt see him actually online anywhere outside of the school, where he checked his email. And its VERY likely for the school to have WiFi access.
3) Assuming the school uses a common ISP, say, same as the one this chick got and since everything for login to the ISP is gonna be stored on the HDD, its not unreasonable at all to think that that account had a static IP and when it was booted up and run it connected with the same IP.

As for the other points. You forget they didnt have to open the emails, as a matter of fact, they couldnt.

Could be worse, I watched Runaway Jury the other day and they did a data recovery on a "twice formatted drive that hasnt been zeroed out"....sounds ok until you get to the fact that this drive was copied onto an MP3 players....so they stole this MP3 player, which was used as a backup device by this guy, and apparently when he copied all the data over he did a sector by sector copy to make sure he got even blank space, just in case someone wanted to recover it I guess....

At least in Smallville she actually pulled out the hard drive and not a stick of ran or the CPU

Actually she was in an apartment, and whomever said it was Luthorcorps ISP? I dont ever recall anyone actually saying which ISP it was, and its very possible that an ISP in the city also provides access in the rural areas.
