Six huge cups of coffee since 2pm this afternoon, and I still feel tired and lazy, and my brain continues to signal my body that it wants more. I am about to get up and get my seventh cup right now. I have never had more than 2 small cups a day, so this is freaking me out. I can't stop drinking for some reason.

I'm getting scared.

caffiene is a diuretic, you are seriously dehydrating your body

not to mention you are tired because you are crashing and will continue to crash worse if you keep drinking it

Caffeine is indeed a diuretic, but he is not dehydrating himself by drinking coffee.

There's not that much caffeine in a cup of coffee.

Now, maybe if he was popping caffeine pills two at a time and drinking only coffee, he would begin to get dehydrated.

i am drinking some water in between. i don't feel dehydrated at all.

it's just funny that any other Saturday, drink two cups of coffee would have me dancing and cleaning everything in sight.

But today, I'm drinking 24 oz cups of coffee like gatorade. i don't have a buzz at all, and my brain is literally signaling me to grab another cup.

that is some fascinating chemistry going on here.:D

not true...OP go to the bathroom and tell us wha color your urine is...

there is 45mg of caffiene in the average cup of coffee, caffiene pills are usually 55mg...I have seen some 100mg caffiene pills

drinking water in between is not going to help because that caffiene is still keeping the water from being drawn into your muscles

my urine is clear. what color should it be?

so it doesn't matter how much water I drink, it won't hydrate me until the coffee is passed from my system?

Umm, lol.. there is 120mg of caffeine in the average cup of drip coffee, and caffeine pills are 200mg.

A shot of espresso contains 60-80mg.

A cup of tea contains ~50mg.

A 12oz can of cola contains 45mg.

Again, he is not dehydrating himself by drinking coffee. There is plenty of liquid vs. caffeine in a cup of coffee.

There are plenty more where that came from.

Coffee does not dehydrate. Since the medium of delivery is water, this makes up for the slight diuretic effect of caffeine.
