I ordered a Plextor 12x10x32 SCSI drive from Onvia on Halloween. I just checked the tracking # on the UPS site and it was shipped on 11/2 from TN, arrived here in California on 11/3 and the expected delivery date is 11/9!!! They are just going to let it sit in a warehouse for a few days. WTF is up w/that?

sounds about right for economy ground service

You should have paid for 2Day if you wanted it that fast

well - UPS is slow - i rather businesses ship priority, but it doesn't have insurance.

i rather not pay $10 extra though and have it arrive a week earlier.

Priority is good, FEDEX is awesome.
especially if you live in Canada and getting stuff from the US :)

damn fedex sucks too

i ordered a watch from Ashford.com
it was on backorder, so they had to get it from somewhere...
so they ship it from Ontario, CA to Texas
in the meantime, I live about 2.5 hours from Ontario.

agh.

onvia shipped me my Linksys switch in one day... then again, it's just going from Missisauga to Ottawa, and i don't think even UPS(or whatever it was they shipped it with) could screw that up ;)

Good luck.
The last 2, count 'em 2 packages I was supposed to get from UPS never arrived. One of them was a Duron, which was the last part i needed to get my new comp up and running. I'm starting to think the driver in my area is stealing packages. It shows on UPS website that the item was left on porch at 6.46pm.

WTF would you leave a package on the porch when there are three cars in the driveway. especially since I paid for 2day priority w/delivery confermation. I spend that much on shipping, you better fVcking make sure I get my package.

oh, yeah I just looked closer and saw the "in transit to", but that in transit to message was there on 11/3. I just used the ups ground from Onvia, because it was free. I didn't want to mess up the great deal I got on the drive, only $250 after using the $50 off $200 coupon. BTW I like FedEx better than UPS, too.

I forgot to say that the last package I that I received from UPS, also through Onvia, was an Antec SX1030B case and it only took 3 days for the case to get from TX to CA and another 3 days for it to go from the CA shipping center, in San Bruno, to get to me!!!

Hmm. I ordered brake pads from a place in Sarasota, FL last Wednesday, paid for 2nd day shipping so I could get em Friday and install over the weekend. That wasn't necessary, as ground shipping gets to me in two days from there anyways (according to UPS' website and a previous order). I was crystal clear that I wanted them Friday so I was willing to pay extra to guarantee that that I got them. The guy that took the order said they would ship Wednesday. 4:30pm Friday rolls around, and no pads. Call em up. They didn't ship until Thursday they'll be here Monday via 2nd day. Man, I about lost control and would have if the lady that answers the phone wasn't so stooooopid.

Got home from work about 20 minutes ago. What???? No brake pads. Oh boy. I'm about to go ballastic on someone right about now. I was pissed enough that I didn't get them Friday, pissed more that they still sent them second day (WHY THE FSCK would I pay for 2nd day on a Thursday when ground shipping would get to me on the same day? WHAT THE HELL were they thinking?).

I have time to install them tomorrow morning, but since I don't have them I won't have another chance for two weekends. Certified letter (so they can't say they didn't get it) complaining about this crap is gunna be sent to the company with a courtesy copy to the BBB.

What are you complaining about? The shipping was free! Remember the saying...You get what you pay for! :)

I'm just complaining about these last two times. When I ordered my Elsa Gladiac Geforce2 GTS from Onvia back in July the card came very quickly. I ordered it on a Thursday morning and I received the package the next day, Friday afternoon, w/ups ground.

I just re-checked the status of my shipment at ups and it did arrive here in CA today, 11/6, at 7:14pm, but I am still going to have to wait until 11/9 to receive my package.

Considering how many packages I have had shipped via UPS, the success rate is pretty good. However, I had a screw-up a few months back where they shipped out the package from New Jersey (I live in Georgia), and it went NORTH to upstate New York, then went FARTHER NORTH to Schenectady (think I spelled that right) before heading back south to New Jersey, where it started. It then sat in the warehouse for three days mulling over its mistake (I'm guessing here). It finally shipped out headed south to Atlanta.

It took about 16 days to move from New Jersey to Atlanta -- I could have walked it faster.

The UPS are God's Angels. They quite literally deliver bountiful joy unto the masses, albeit somewhat late in some cases but God has his own agenda you know. Instead of dissing 'em thou shalt be worshipping them! ;)

JellyBaby, I still haven't been able see that pic in your sig. You would think 3 dozen times of hitting the refresh button would do it, but I guess not.

I think all UPS drivers have to undergo a mandatory company-sponsored frontal lobotomy before they can work. I don't even want to start with my stories.
