wtf is wrong with this T40 - no POST

i have a friends laptop that doesn't POST. When i press the power switch, the thing turns on for like 1 sec and then turns off (i see the status lights flash). I've taken out the memory and HD and reinstalled them. any ideas?

maybe something to do with power? Is it the same just on battery and just connected to mains?

Had a similar problem with my T40p. It was a blown logic board; replaced under warranty.

My Dell Inspiron 8000 does that sometimes. I just hit it. Honestly, it works. I guess I need to find out why, but hey it's worked for about 6 months now.

just call up ibm, i believe there should be warranty on it.
