I keep seeing them, and while I generally don't give a crap about a car's rear end, there's something or several somethings that just make it look wrong...

Honda styling in general has gone on a crazy tangent. They're tired of being called boring so they're going for radically offensive. Just look at any recent Honda, Pilot, RL, TL, TSX and to a lesser extent the MDX(grille).

People complained about Honda's boring styling so Honda did something about it.

I love new Honda/Acura styling. Quite aggressive and future-oriented styling. I know it's quite debatable among older buyers, but for younger buyers, it seems like new styling is more appealing positively.

Umm, I didn't ask anything, so you can't answer "yes" or "no". :) If you said "No" to "it seems like" part, it's quite interesting since that's expression of my impression from younger buyers (including myself). For instance, Civic, older gen is boring and simple, but newer gen is more aerodynamic looking and agressive styling. Also, newer Civic's interior was feeling like near-future car with its cyber-looking digital speedometer, which was quite interesting to me.

Would you mind to expand your reasoning of disagreement in my idea of "Younger people take new Honda/Acura styling more appealing than older conservative/boring design"?

I'm a college student, I live on a college campus, all my friends are college students, grad students or recent grads. Not a single of my friends think recently redesigned Hondas look anything close to attractive. I don't think recent Hondas look attractive. No older people I know think they look attractive.

you may be the exception to the rule, everyone i know thinks it looks horrible.

No, its not aggressive, the nicest thing I can say is it looks interesting in the same way how stupid paris hilton manages to be is interesting. Sort of a sad trainwreck, bu you cant look away.

The 2004 TL had a .cd of .29. Honda is one of the few companies that has always published the .cd of its cars to tout how aerodynamic they are. The new 2009 TSX for example is .27. Funny then the bulky, box with odd jutts and angles, something that looks the complete opposite of sleek and aerodynamic, the RL and TL are the first Hondas in decades to OMIT this information. Hmm, they must be embarrassed and this time they don't even have the style>substance argument because the looks of the cars are near-universally lambasted.

Now, there's someone better than someone just saying "Umm, no".

Guess I and my friends have different favor (Probably us being Japanese and Korean making difference?) from yours. How about compare to older generation Hondas?

I love the 1998-2002 Accord Coupe, I love the NSX, the old TSX and TL look sleek. The RL looked classy. I honestly dont like how new hondas look. I think they want to look futursitic-spaceshipy but they forgot, America grew out of that in the 50s.

For the record, I'm also asian, but I much prefer smooth lines like the 2004 TL or TSX over odd juts and angles like the 2009TL. It's just not cohesive. Lines end abruptly, creases lead nowhere, it looks like theres 5 cars worth of different styling elements just sort of mish-mashed on the car.

They've out-bangled Chris Bangle.

Look at this for example. It's interesting, lots of lines, lots of curves but the lines start and end where you feel it looks right, the curves serve a purpos, the car looks like 1 well put together theme. Acuras(TLs and RLs especially) OTOH i think look like seizures. It's like 6 people working alone were told to style entirely different parts of the car and then decided to put it together.

QFT.

honda restyles its cars way too often, ESPECIALLY the accord. one year, it'll have reds on the top and clears on the bottom, the next year it'll have an "all new model/design" and the lights will be in reverse - reds on the bottom, clears on the top.
