So my brother in law's annual skype US & Canada unlimited subscription (a promo price for around $45 with a Skype-In number) ended towards the end of April. He canceled the subscription as the plan wouldn't renew at the same promo price. About 3 days after the subscription ended he wanted to make a few calls so he added $10 in Skype Credit to his account and made a call. All is good.
The next day he gets two additional Skype "top up" charges on his account, $10 in the morning, $10 in the evening. The next day, the same thing ($10 in two seperate charges), the third day he notices the charges, goes into Paypal and removes Skype's authorization from his account.
His skype balance is now at $50.01 when he only authorized $10 that first day.
He sends an e-mail to support to try and figure out what is going on. The guy from Skype responds back
> Our logs indicate that you ahve a recurring yearly Unlimited
> subscription that is payed from your Skype Out credit balance. The
> orders you refer to are related to the upcoming transaction for your
> subscription's renewal. If you do not wish to continue with the subscription we can refund
> the orders.
He replies back with the five paypal Transaction #'s for each $10 charge as well as a request that they refund four of the charges as he only wants $10 on his account.
Skype responds;
> According to our logs you purchased an Unlimited World 12 months subcription and was
> active 27, April, 2009. ... The date of renewal is suspended and as you do not have Skype
> credit on your account and disabled your Auto-recharge your subscription will not be
> recurring. ... The price of the subscription is $59.50.
Now, not only is that a completely different plan than he was on last year (he was on the US & Canada), but he never signed up for the World plan as they claim. He reponds back asking for a refund and gets this reply:
> Our records show that you purchased an Unlimited Country subscription on
> 27 April, 2008 for 12 months. It has been suspended because it was
> purchased from your Skype credits and as you did not have enough credit,
> your subscription could not renew itself. Now it is expired and
> unfortunately we cannot give refunds for an expired porduct.
So now they ramped up his account with four extra $10 charges when he only wanted one, and won't give him refunds for them.
Any idea what to do at this point? Anyone know someone who works at Skype that can help us out?
