WTF is wrong with my wireless adapter?

Microsoft MN-510.

There are 2 lights on it:
-Wireless
-Power

Sometimes it would randomly stop, both lights go out. I reconnect it to the same USB port, and the Power light stays on but the Wireless light stays off. I go to Add Hardware and find that "MN-510" is acting fubar'd, and it tells me I can't find the drivers. So I insert the drivers CD and it bitches, saying that "This isn't compatible with your version of Windows".

Then I plug it into ANOTHER USB port, but this time both the Wireless and the Power lights stay off. I do Add Hardware and it says "This device is disabled". I enable it and everything works fine.

WHY? It's been fine for so long. I had this problem last year, and it seems to be rather intermittent.

I'm searching, I'm searching.

Blah. I just switched the adapter with another one and it works. I gave the messed up one to my dad and he seems to be going haywire. Dunno how that happened 😕.... 😉.

All in all, hardware problems are a bitch. Lesson learned.
