WTF is wrong with MTV?

i was surfing the channels when i saw this 2 guys (gays rather) competing with one another to win the heart of another gay. They kissed, caressed, etc. Man, good thing i was holding the remote, not my kids! R they running out of ideas on TV??

BTW, dismissed is the title of the show.

Well it's comforting to know that your kids are on their way to hating homosexuals, or at least planning to hate them if they ever meet one.

I actually think it's pretty good that someone at least isn't afraid to show gay couples on TV like that, I think it'd be cool for gay people to see that and help them feel more accepted in society (that is, if they're nit feeling confident about their acceptance).

And depending on the age of your kids, they shouldn't be watching MTV at all if you're cautious about what they watch.

Now don't jump to that conclusion, they may be young. I think that seeing gay couples (continually) could confuse them at a young age...

The show is called "Dismissed"
Yeah, i caught that episode too and it pissed me off. I changed the channel to PBS and watched some Sesame Street to make myself feel wholesome again.

If two guys making out is the worst thing kids see on TV today then they are lucky.

How do you explain to a 7 yr old kid when she sees 2 guys kissing??? its perfectly understandable if we're talking about 12 - 14 y.o. Also, i have no intention whatsoever of teaching my kids to hate somebody becuase of the color of the skin, sexual preference, etc. That scene is just hard to explain to toddlers, plain and simple.

oh c'mon a 7 year old shouldn't be watching dismissed, regardless if they have gays or straights on.

who said they're watching? do you tell your kids to get out of the room if you're the one looking for a good show?

I am definitely tired of watching people gay'n it up on TV. This crap needs to stop and especially on cable tv where little kids can watch it.

MTV is crap. I hated their anti-war campaign. I was anti-war on Iraq too, but watching Avril Lavigne express her political opinions made me want to hurl.

So stop watching it. 😕

Can't say as my daughters have ever seen shows like Queer as Folk or this MTV thing. Simply put, good parenting will keep them from seeing things you generally don't want them to see, or if they do come across it (which they will through school, friends, etc.) at least I have raised them well enough for them to respect other people's choices, regardless how offended it may make them.

I'll agree to that.

How do you explain sexual relationships to anyone of that age? Would a toddler even understand what he was seeing? I don't particularly feel like seeing 2 guys go at it myself, but bashing MTV as doing something wrong doesn't make a whole lot of sense.
