lately i have been having trouble falling asleep. i'm usually in bed by 11pm when i have to work the next day and most of the time i don't have any trouble falling asleep.

last night, i turned out the light around 11. laid in bed until about 12:30, not feeling tired at all. took a sleep aid pill and was awake for another hour or so. I read a book until i started to feel sleepy.

whats weird is that during the day, i feel extremely tired or feel like falling asleep. then when i get home, i all of a sudden "wake up" and don't feel tired and then it screws me over at night.

now tonight, i knew i wasn't feeling tired at all so i took a sleep aid pill around 8:00. sometimes i can feel it kick in within an hour and sometimes a little longer. its now a little after 10:30 and i still don't feel all that tired.

i hate this.

Stress at home or work usually causes this for me. Typically if I can figure out what is causing the stress and alleviate it I will be able to sleep after that. Sounds ridiculously simple I know, but somketimes we do not realize that certain things are stressing us out until we take a thorough look at them.

Good luck man :)

I've been doing that for years. Tell me when you figure it out.

I find this happens to me because I don't want to work. So I get really tired when I'm doing something I don't want to do and then wide awake when I have free time to do what I desire.

Sounds like just about every week night of my life since college. But then weekend comes and I stay up and extra few hours so I sleep later and I'm wide awake at 2AM Sunday night with work the next morning.

Heck it's midnight and I'm on ATOT and my first alarm goes off at 6AM

Cut out all caffeine and exercise during the time you're sleepy during the day,....

You'll be sleepy right at 10.

Do you tend to start projects and never finish them?

Like say, if I were to visit your house would you have a car engine on the floor in your garage that is partially taken apart and would I fiind your lightswitches missing their covers?

Thats exactly how i am. Ill stay up pretty late studying for a test and be exhausted in the morning. I have the intention of sleeping for a few hours after the test but i always end up being wide awake by the time i get back to my place.

I suffered through similar problems.

I know take sleeping pills....and/or smoke marijuana before bed...puts me out and I feel great the next day.

no, but i have started a hobby only to stop doing it and start another, does that count?

what does that have to do with sleep anyway?

I am the exact same way, has bothered me so much I am looking for a 3rd shift tech job, I can be twice as productive if I work later at night.

I find this is the same for me... during school I worked 5 days a week, on top of a full load of classes... and participating in serveral clubs... by the time I went to sleep, I'd fall asleep in a matter of minutes... Now that I'm home for the summer and won't be working until June, it usually takes me about an hour or more to fall asleep.

stay up all night one time. then the next day go to bed at like 6pm. then get up about 4am and go to bed at like 9pm. it will fix your sleep schedule.
