I hate the stuff the goes around me.
I hate Rap/Hiphop.
I hate most things on MTV.
I hate whiny little biatches(both genders).
I hate myspace/xanga but facebook is okay if only to remember birthdays/screen names and such.

Basically I hate the mentality of the people around me. I go to a large school(UCF) but for the most part, the mentality is to party and get the "C" thats required to pass classes.

I feel think that college should be a time where you have to get your life in order and "grow up" and by grow up I mean to turn your ass into a productive member of society. I occasionally go to parties, maybe once every 2 months but thats usually to relieve the stress after exams/papers. For whatever reason I also feel that the rest of my life will depend on what I do during the next three or so years and if I screw up now, it'll haunt me later on.

I guess I'm afraid mediocracy. I would love to life the life where I earn enough so that I can slurge and not think of the consequences. I would be extremely happy if I found a job(by the time I'm 40) where I could make ~100k a year after all expenses were taken out of the equation. Perhaps I'm just dreaming but if I were given the oppurtunity to recieve such a salary, I wouldn't mind working my tail off for it as long as I get some time with my family. I guess you can say that i"m a workaholic.

Am I thinking on the right track or should I reevaluate my priorities(such as having more of a social life)?

Let me see...

I hate the stuff around me, check
I hate Mainstream rap/hip hop

I hate the mentality, check

Maybe you're a bit more mature and self-aware than others in your environment? People mature at different rates, maybe you're a little bit ahead?

Besides, a lot of the people around you probably feel the same as you, but there's a lowest common denominator thing that tends to manifest in group environments.

In answer to one of your ?'s, having some social life is usually necessary to achieve the >$100k salary, because networking, and frankly some honed interpersonal political sensitivities, are important to get here.

So, be encouraged. You sound A. O.K.

it's all about balance man. you can't be too focused on grades and school otherwise you will be miserable, and at the same token you can't slack off too much because it will bite you in the ass later. it sounds easy, but learning how to balance your life is quite possibly one of the most difficult things to do.

No I'm not emo, at least I don't think I am...

Don't pay attention to them. The word "Emo" is similar to profanities in that it lets people with poor vocabularies use a single word for a plethora of meanings.

Yes, I would say it's a plethora.

Anyway, you sound like the "average" intelligent person, but intelligent people have always been a minority so get used to it.

what do you think about overly pretentious people?

Everybody is an individual. Stop worrying about how your goals and priorities compare to others.
