I have been playing counter strike source lately, and today I signed on and saw a handful of people who changed their names to "Virginia Tech Student" and "an asian virginia tech student" and a few others which I won't mention. What the _ _ _ _ is wrong with kids these days? Do they have no respect for human life? Assuming that the majority of people who play this game are young teens, where is society going in future years? I am just baffled that these people would find it funny....

What I still don't get is why the eff did Virgina Tech not lock down the campus after the first shooting...I mean come on, what was there thought process for that whole incident? People get shot and they didn't lock anything down? wtf?

It's the anonymity of playing online. Same thing goes for forum posts. Have you seen how hostile people are towards each other on the forums?

Do you have kids? Would you expect your child to make jokes about other people's lives?

It is not that I am expecting adult behavior but c'mon man, don't these people have any respect for human life. I would never have said anything like that when I was younger, in a cs game or in a science class. Where it was said is not the issue I had, what was said is more of a concern to me. I'm sorry I guess this was a silly thought by me.

Sadly this is how some kids (not really kids but teenagers) deal with stuff like this. Is it mature or respectful? Of course it isn't. However, I can remember not being phased by this stuff when I was younger (although I didn't do it personally).

thats just the way people act on the internets, its happens here at ATOT as well ya know with people making inappropriate remarks. Kids just think its makes them look "cool" to ridicule something which is usually considered off limits. IF you are hoping that teenage kids are gonna act in a respectable way given the complete anonymity of the internet than you are gonna be disappointed. And please, enough with the "kids these days" stuff, I'm sure when you were a kid there were probably a bunch of dumbsh|ts around too.

Uh, you need to remember, these are the same generation of spoiled brats who are responsible for these atrocious actions of which you speak.

ATOT is probably just as bad or worse. Ive seen people make legit non-trolling posts, or sometimes just dont even know something and get ridiculed to the extreme, and then other posters join in and do the same.

This is nothing new. There have been jokes about disasters and such since I was a kid and before.

You should have heard all the NASA jokes back in 1986.

Example: What does NASA stand for? Need Another Seven Astronauts.

So it has nothing to do with "kids these days." It has to do with kids in any time past or present.

There is nothing new under the sun.

Oh goodness. I was hardcore CS after 9/11. Those were the days I was in cal-im and stuff and if I went to pub servers for fun... man.

People would yell "FOR OSAMA" when the bomb would blow and stuff.

At least CS:S doesn't have as many kids as HALO. I HATE PEOPLE WHO USE VOICE CHAT IN HALO especially when I hear a high-pitched-non-puberty kid screaming behind it.

Shhhhh! Remember, all kids today are evil, and keep leaving their sports equipment on their lawn. Don't sympathize with them, you young whippersnapper! My generation was a bunch of saints!

Oh man, I cant help it, but I cracked up at that joke. The poking fun of the VT incident might not be right, but why would you be offended by it?

And when I play CS I always yell "For Allah" or "Allah Akbar" or other muslim words when playing as the terrorist. Its roleplaying.

i guess the OP is offended on how soon the jokes or name calling begins
the relatives and friends of victims are still trying to swallow the news

but yeah, when you're dealing with teens, they have no idea the impact and seriousness of this incident and they will just try to act all hip and cool and distance themselves emotionally from these horrible horrible acts.

Why would they? I want to hear your reasoning. I feel if they would have locked it down even more would have been killed. They killer was a student, which would have been locked inside with the other students. Other reasons were they thought they had a murder suicide. Also, you would think that a killer would be on the run, not on the hunt as this moron was.
