wtf is wrong with AIM?

Every time I try to sign in to AIM, it loads, then immediately crashes. I've re-installed it, run Ad-Aware and Spybot, and scanned for viruses. All to no avail. Any ideas?

I know it has to be something specific to this computer; AIM runs fine on my laptop, and at the moment I am signed in to AIM-express through IE. I just can't think of what else to check to see why the program is freaking out.

Well, every once in a while my AIM crashes when I just sign on, about to IM someone, or receive an IM. Its really annoying. But hey, my computer is already jacked up so what do you expect, you know?

In my case, it seems to be only AIM that's really buggered up. Everything else seems to run fine.

i had this happen to me, too

my solution was to install GAIM and uninstall aim 😛

stop useing the AIM program

Your using the program is what's wrong with it. Ditch it and get Trillian. It lets you use your AIM screenname.

I just downloaded and installed it. I'm already loving it...but I can't seem to set my buddy icon. Can someone help me set it up? For some reason, my friends can see my AIM buddy icon on Trillian but I can't see my icon in action. What's up with that?
