WTF IS WITH THE MEMORY PRICES!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

I have to build my latest comp soon and I am trying to wait this HUGE price increase in DDR ram. Does anyone know why this is happening and when it will be over.

not sure why exactly its occuring this time, but i guess the memory world is analogous to oil prices and OPEC. its crazy i tell you



actually though... i think prices are going to be going down within the next month or so, i remember reading an article of samsung (i think) securing some retailers for ddr400, which would increase supply of ram chips
im pretty sure thats what the story was.

The stick I am/was going to get is Samsung DDR2100 ECC Reg, which has changed from 113 online to 134. I hope that these prices will be going down like you said over the next month. I am going to college on August 27th, does anyone know or have reasonable suspicion that the prices will be down by then?

All of the Asian stock markets have fallen considerably (Japan closed a bit high yesterday, but that was after falling way down). This started happening about a month ago too, so don't blame Telecom.

Yeah, I noticed this as well. About two weeks ago, I picked up a 512 stick of Samsung 2700 ram from NewEgg for $150. Now its 170 :Q!.

Just go to the For Sale/Trade. There are a lot of people selling memory for pretty good prices there.

Yeah I picked up a stick last night of 256 meg crucial for $55 shipped priority (compared to $68 at crucial and $75 at newegg).
