WTF is with Comcast

During the nighttime, it's fine - I get ~ 700KB/s.

During the day, it barely even works - I get ~ 20 % packet loss to google, and everything (including opening a new message window) is difficult and slow.

IT's so annoying.

where are you? back in the day i lived in a small town and only like 4 or 5 people were on their net service and our town had it's own node or whatever the fvck you call it, so we had screeeaming fast speeds....I live in a bigger city now and still get blazing speeds but nothing like before. Plus I've noticed it occasionally dies for a few seconds here and there...it's odd

my comcast hsi isn't even working.. hasn't worked for about a week and a half now, and had 2 technicians come out.. i've called csr about 5 times already in a week.. fvcking retarded

Is the cable line split going to your modem? If so, thats the problem, not enough signal. I had that problem, they had to SEND somebody out to figure it out, they couldn't just tell me to check it.

Well yes - my cable line is split going into the modem. But I have to split it - there's only one jack in the whole apartment.

It continues today. Yesterday, it was just disconnected for the *whole* day up until 11pm or so. Today, it stays on but I'm downloading files in the background at 100KB/s. Everytime I click a link in my web browser it just completely stops the download, waits 15 seconds, then starts again.

It's nutsy flakey like this. I really don't know what to do.

Dont think SBC has that kind of package.

Have you called the wonderful and extremely helpful Comcast techies?

I haven't had time yet - I've been swamped. I kind of want a tool to sit here and monitor the crappiness of the connection for a while.

But essentially I haven't had one day of reliable service yet and that's frustrating coming from a good DSL background and a college internet connection.

Don't get me wrong - at 3am it's fast (720KB/s) but I don't need to use it then all of the time 🙁

Haha. The first time I called Comcast when my HSI wasn't working (the installer didn't finish - the modem was bad so he just left it here and told me my computer was broken), the person on the phone kept asking me to do stuff (reboot your computer, etc) over and over again - the whole time he was talking with someone else in the background (flirting with some chick). I literally thought he was at a resturant or something.

Then finally, he told me to call some number which he said was the "parts department" in the morning to get a new modem. I called it right then, and it was the *same* number I had called to talk to him (I called 800-COMCAST and he gave me the numerical version).

Needless to say I was furious.
