WTF is up with uPlay? Update: still no progress, no support!

So I just purchased and activated a key for AC4: Black Flag. This is my first time using uPlay, and I now see what all the hate is about. I activate my key and I set to download the game. The download fails and I get a message that states that uPlay cannot finish the download because I either don't have an active internet connection or there's not enough space on the storage drive. This is while I'm connected to the internet and have over 1.5TB of free space!

So I change the destination folder to a different drive and I get the same error. WTF?!

Edit: I also uninstalled / re-installed uPlay, this time on my SSD. Same error...

Update 2/26: Welp, the game still wont download after multiple reinstalls to different locations / folders / HDD's, even though I have over 1TB of free space and no internet connection issues. The worst part is that support is non-existant, and the website for support keeps crashing and I get this stupid "oops" page! Oh and the support ph # is a long distance number. WTF again!

WTF man, not cool! Count me in as never buying or supporting Ubicrap ever again!

IIRC you need enough temp space on your windows/OS partition for uplay as that is where the temp files are copied when downloading them (IIRC anyway, been a while, not a fan of uplay and it's random "you do not own this game" rubbish).

The temp files might be even where you installed uplay. It was Origin or uplay that does this enough to be a pain.

Thinking about it now, I think I had to clear (game size) x 2 space on my OS drive for the last game to download. Even though I was installing onto a second drive.

Then you have the speed issues. Surely if they want to compete with Steam, they can get a download speed over 100Kbit/s.

With all the feedback/complaints on such "simple" issues you would think they would do something to improve their offering, but nope, they have your money already, why care.

And I now have no clue what to do about The Division. Cut my wrists over uPlay or put up with sub-1080p on the Xbone.

UNoPlay

The only experiences i had with uplay were from playing games that i got for steam. In those cases the game downloads through steam normally and when you start them, it launches uplay to register it but you dont need to download anything, so i kinda never had issues with uplay (i barely use it anyway)

Once you get the install all sorted out, I recomend playing it off line and not have uPlay save to the cloud.
Too many times launching Black Flag only to find my saves gone taught me that. While recoverable, its extremely annoying.
Much like uPlay

Hmm.. I wonder if playing offline will fix my problems with FarCry3. I played halfway through the game, with NO bugs at all, and then it's become an unplayable mess.

I have it somewhat playable after endless reinstalls of the game and Uplay, dropped it to low visuals, 1024X768, and DX9. (Vs nearly maxed settings at 1920) Frustrating, but I'm just powering through at this point. From reading the support forums, I know Steam users were having the same problems...

I hope I don't have the same issue with Blood Dragon...

uplay stinks. It adds nothing and it likely to take away something you paid real money for.

Then they piss and moan about piracy.

You need to make sure the installer cache is set to a drive that has enough space. You know, like just about every other system out there aside from Steam?

I have it set to a folder which resides on a drive with over 1TB of free space....

I've had this issue. You have to uninstall uPlay, reinstall it on the drive that will store your games, and then check the settings to make sure all folders are pointed towards that same drive.
