WTF is up with the shortage of Logitech steering wheels?

Anyone try to buy ANY Logitech Wheel controller lately? The GT? Out of stock, G27? Out of stock---they're selling on eBay for $100 over retail in some cases. Did a plant blow up somewhere and there's a part shortage I wasn't told about?

There's this little known event called Christmas that tends to put a damper on availability from time to time.

Just read that Gran Turismo 5 might be the cause...it's making the PS3 fly off the shelves, and Logitech wheels are PS3 and PC compatible. That game must kick ass.

I don't know about new ones, but I can't find any used ones for sale in my area either.

If they're selling really high, maybe I should sell my Driving Force Pro and get a G27 when they're available again...I scored it on Craigslist a couple years back for 25 bucks. :D

GT5 sales

Well they sold 5.5million by Dec 10th. Wonder what percent of people got wheels to go with it. Luckily I had the one I got for GT4.

you looking for a wheel for Grid?

Eh, not really. ():)

Admittedly, it's gotten better since its launch, but I still find other driving games more enjoyable.

I bought one 6 weeks ago for $200, sold it at the peak for $450 :)
Its been in and out of stock at logitech (and you can get 20% off coupons easily, so $240 or so). Not sure why the price is a bit inflated still since its been in stock recently at logitech for a while.

If anything, this is a failing in Logitech's supply, they aren't making any money when they are out of stock...

can't imagine its that many people...the wheel is still pretty expensive for the average person. But even if the attach rate is only one percent....at 5.5 million copies sold, that is quite a bit of wheels

I want one but I've spent too much on real car stuff :(

Plus I don't have a good place to set one up..blah.

This guy made a cheap mount out of PVC pipe and an old car seat lol:

It's not GT5. It's just Christmas in general. The 360 wheel is out of stock everywhere too.
