No, seriously wtf is up with my HDR is Farcry.
Take a fvck'n look!

So, whats the problem and how do I fix it?

EDIT: First time playing with HDR, used \r_hdrrendering 7 to enable it.

I have a similar problem, and it only happens in farcry. I can make it go away(but only to return again) by setting hdr to zero and then back to the level I use which is 7. It doesn't bother me too much because I can make it go away. hey wiz, Does this happen to you immediately or does it tend to crawl across the screen with time?

something's wrong with nvidia's profile of far cry

thus, renaming your farcry.exe to something like willnvidiajustleavemealone.exe would solve that problem instantly!

Yes, that might work, but then won't SLI not work?

EDIT: And HDR 1 mode is HDR 7 mode? Doesn't seem right. And BTW, it's also happening right away. Seems to happen with bright lights or something like that.

Now, if I renamed farcry.exe and then created a new profile with Multi-GPU on then won't that enable SLI for me?

I'm so confused, I just wantnvidiatojustleavemealone.exe...lol

Also, so is it a driver issue or what? I'm using the 82.12 betas.

I bet, then the game crashes so I can't look at it ;)

Someone help me. Look at 4th post for more details.

EDIT: I find the 82.12 Betas are the most stable drivers for ALL OF MY GAMES, maby except FarCry. I can't go back to 81.89 since that crashes Rome Total War and I can't go ahead to 83.12 since I don't like offical betas and it also dosn't work too well with NFS:MW.

easy... sell your sli setup and buy a dfi crossfire board , make sure its rev 2.0 or 3.0 , new egg is only shipping 3.0A thoes since they are rock solid stable. Buy a X1900XT for $520 and X1900XT crossfire for $590. enjoy your setup.

this is the best longest path to go :) ... now I imagen the shocking look in your face after reading my answer =

it happens in all the god damn nvidia drivers

you can manually set it to afr or sfr in global driver setting (it'll work)
one of them will work for sure

and this is the only way to solve this problem for 7 series
same thing will happen if you use a single card

when the screen lights up...you can switch back to no hdr and the lights will go away

Now, afr=alternate frame rendering and sfr=split frame rendering right?

How do I enable those. All I get are single GPU rendering and multi-GPU rendering. do I need Coolbits or Coolbits 2?

Nope, all I get is Single GPU Rendering (which I assume is one card) and multi-GPU Rendering (which I assume is generic SLI Rendering, right?)

Use nHancer to set the profile instead of the driver control panel. I think Far Cry uses SFR. The HDR mode works okay for me, although this game has some bug where its performance tanks a lot with SLI if HDR is turned on.

I can't use nHancer. I keep getting this XML error were it says I need to reboot after I installed a new driver. WTF is going on now!!!!!

I had the same issue with a 6600GT in Far Cry and 7800GTX (stock cooling) in Far Cry with HDR. I couldn't tell if it was a heat related issue or what, but it only happened in Far Cry with HDR turned on. It did completely go away when I got better cooling for my 7800GTX, and my friend's 7800GTX never exhibited the problem in Far Cry.

I got Coolbits 2 and Now I can create my own SLI/driver profile for a renamed farcry exe. I'll see if that works.

Apparently this has been a problem with the 6 series and up for a while now. IIRC renaming the .exe fixed it, but in your case if it disables SLI I don't know.

Is there some way to create custom profiles for SLI?

You can create a better custom profile with SLI with Coolbits 2. You can choose sfr, afr and all the other SLI sh!t.

One more question, about the SLI modes, if it detects a profile (for an exe) it will automatically load that profile and overrite all SLI settings that you have in the "global driver" selections. Because if I keep it on sfr, then if I open up an exe file (like hl2 or something) it will automatically override the sfr with the SLI rendering from the profile?

happens in my setup as well (single GPU), guess I just need to rename farcry.exe
