Just got off the phone with Canon. They are sending me a box, and they are going to replace the outer casing/housing of the camera for free :D

They are replacing the camera casing, I should say. The actual metal outer covering of the camera.

They are sending me a box to put the camera in. I send it off at their cost, they replace the outer casing, then send it back to me like new.

That's what happens when someone is a sucker enough to buy a $150 camera pouch.

You don't get what you pay for. That's a myth. You paid a lot and you got a crappy product. In the end, you got a camera case which damaged the camera. And you paid $150 for it.</end quote></div>

Actually it looks like he paid $30 for it.

When you buy a product and receive it, thats called getting what you payed for.

wtf ... that order total doesn't add up.

maybe they gave you the $10 knockoff instead of the $30 one, which is why your total is $160 and not $180! :Q

There was a promotional discount of $20 for buying the camera and the case together. That's the only reason why I bought the case.

So I got the case for $10.

Lesson to be Learned here: More expensive cases to not necessarily protect any better. Just get a basic cordura one size fits all.

Sell, buy the gf an sd1000 or 700/800is and use the rest towards a new lens/filter/polarizer/something?

Wow. That camera looks like a shopping cart fished out of the canals in my city! Good to hear Canon's fixing it for you though. I think they're tied with NEC for customer service levels of 'awesome' or above.

I have seen scads of Coach and Louis Vitton, Hermes, and other name bags being sold on the streets of Venice. They are cheap knockoffs made in China, and what this illustrates are residual chemicals left in the bag during a cheap manufacturing process. The fault here was the dealer. Canon was good to replace the camera.
