I just saw this propaganda on MTV. Its made by the Hawaii chapter of MADD.... Another thing they say is that "it causes date rape" and "causes emotional trauma". THey then say alcohol is a drug, # 1 pervalent drug among teens.

I dont understand this. Is madd causing some sort shock factor in these blatently misleading facts. I wonder how many of them drink red wine with their steak at dinner...

damn... friggin pissess me off.

Alcohol is just a target of their aggression... Spreading misleeding facts about it is no better than blaming your problems on alcohol in the first place.

Ehh, I'm not going to argue with MADD here. Considering how my class is shaping up, they're probably right.:Q

I find it hard to believe that even though they are against "drunk drivers" they are saying alcohol is the antichrist for "teens". Does it become good once you turn 20?

This part isn't misleading information, though. Alcohol IS a depressant. I don't know about the other things they say...

Date rape is caused by the victor.. NOT THE VICTIM.....

How the hell can alcohol (any amount now) cause emotional trauma among ALL teens.. That was the wording they used...

MADD is a good organization with a good cause... absolutely nothing wrong with that...

they should put MORE fear into kids, maybe it would help... alcohol is the most abused drug on the face of the planet...

But my point is draw limits.... Alcohol is not bad if you dont abuse it... A little beer with chips on sunday watching football? suuure...
wine with your steak.. ok...

MADD is good but the wording they use is propaganda.

By the time I finished high School, I guarantee, that every person in my graduating class had been negatively effected by alcohol in some way shape or form.

Well, I am a teenager and enjoy the consumption of alcoholic beverages. I can honestly say alcohol has never caused me emotional trauma and I never date raped anybody (or got date raped for that matter heehe). So I guess their reasoning is a little off.

Vague doesn't mean it's incorrect, maybe they are just trying to make it apply to more people. Besides, think about it: Get drunk really isn't THAT uncommon, right? So the statement could be true.

Besides, what do YOU propose to teach kids how not to abuse alcohol? Let them all get drunk a few times so they learn the "hard way"?

Drug education via DARE or whatever programs there are...

i enjoy drinking, i am 18, and i never had any of those problems. the main issue is self control.
