Lazy A$$ update! Here's my reply for all you lazy asses out there
Just got a response from AJ. I haven't time to read the whole thing now, didn't know he was going to type/cut and paste and whole novel for a reply.
Anyway, here it is:
Dearest Travis,
Greetings once again! Initially, please allow me to state that I
genuinely appreciate your immense willingness, graciousness, and
heartfelt kindness in regards to this thoroughly tragic, realistic
matter. Both Mithun and I shall forever remain indebted to you for the
most important gift of all for everyone-- such an extraordinary show of
compassion, genuine human generosity, and magnanimous selflessness.
Without a shadow of a doubt, Mithun remains the most admirable human
being with whom I have ever come into contact; I believe that this very
fact-- in addition to his being my cousin-- serves as the primary drive
behind my obsession to bring him the greatest of happiness upon his
birthday. That being stated, please allow me to grant the request in
your previous e-mail and depict the details regarding his illness at
present.
Now I shall explain the details through my own point of view due to your
heartfelt concern since I initially presented you with the case. This
concern of yours remains the type that the entire world should possess;
God bless you for that. Mithun was initially diagnosed with ALL, or
Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia (i.e. "childhood leukemia"), in November of
1995. He remained approximately five months shy of his 11th birthday.
Mithun's parents had initially taken him to the doctor (technically to a
nurse practioner) for a routine check-up of sorts. He had been slightly
fatigued for several weeks, and he additionally voiced that he had muscle
pains in various areas-- shoulders, back, legs. The nurse practioner
examined Mithun and stated that he appeared adequate, his oxygen levels
remained well, and his lung capacity also remained satisfactory.
However, she thankfully withdrew some blood for analysis just in case,
hypothesizing that he had mono. The blood samples were ultimately sent
to the University Health Sciences Center, and a tragic and shocking
diagnosis of leukemia was returned. The nurse practitioner desired that
Mithun come to the hospital right away; she had already specifically
booked a room for him. Throughout the following few days, Mithun
underwent surgery in order to allow his bone marrow to be examined for
cancer cells, was administered a spinal (excruciating even to imagine) in
order to examine the spinal fluid as well, and begun intraethical
chemotherapy. Additionally, a mediport ultimately was installed.
I tragically remember flying to Texas (Mithun was taken to M.D. Anderson
Medical Center within Houston, TX) with my mother Sheela that very
weekend and remaining within an indescribable state of unearthly numbness
throughout the entire flight; I remained fifteen years old and a
sophomore in high school at the time. The grueling trip there was the
scariest experience which I have remained forced to undergo during my
entire life so far. Everyone-- inclusive of Mithun-- remained within an
utter state of disbelief and comprehensive shock, and we all devoted the
entire weekend in deciding whether Mithun should be entered into an
investigative study or whether the standard protocol should be done.
Throughout the following two years, I failed to see Mithun as often as I
would have enjoyed doing. You see, he entered a rather disturbing state
during which he adamantly insisted upon isolating himself from relatives
and friends outside of his immediate family. This remained rather
convenient due to his being home-schooled during this time period due to
excessive chemo. I remember feeling thoroughly depressed due to the
extremely close bond which Mithun and I had always shared within the
past. I become violently angered at times-- something upon which I now,
at the age of 22, reflect and thoroughly regret yet blame upon my foolish
adolescence. Therefore, I refused to want to learn about Mithun's
progression throughout his first two years of what we now kindly refer to
as "his mission."
On my seventeenth birthday, he called me at home for the first time since
his third cycle of intraethical chemo. NOW you must understand why his
birthday this year (the big 1-7) remains so unbelievably symbolic and
important to me. We discussed a plethora of subject topics from old
family reunions to his entering of high school to his entire life
throughout the "missing years." I remember feeling odd in having to
assist him by rapidly grabbing the emetic basin twice throughout the
entire conversation. However, overall, the meeting remained an immense
blessing, for we then realized that we should NEVER take each other for
granted-- a wonderful realization. We ultimately began seeking more
"wonderful realizations" together.
In terms of tangible treatment, however, the following occurred. I
currently am referring to my own notes taken at the hospital throughout
this time. Vincristine, six intramuscular shots, and oral prednisone
are administered. There remain "days" for bone marrow aspiration and
Intrathecal (LP) Ara C. IV's are administered weekly. During this time
period, Mithun feels horrible (i.e. mostly fatigued or exhausted). The
slightly amusing aspect of this time is that the prednisone increases his
appetite immensely; he constantly craves food and absolutely adores
everything edible. Consolidation and interim maintenance then occurs;
this basically consists of oral methotrexate, bi-weekly LP ara C, and
another treatment whose name I cannot recall.
Currently within another grueling re-intensification period, Mithun and I
just discussed two weeks ago what may have ultimately caused his
leukemia. Mithun stated that,"It's kinda like a video game or a
computer. Sometimes you know that your computer will crash because of
something you do. But oftentimes, these crashes are things that you just
cannot predict because there are many factors involved, and these come
together to cause a crash. The key to surviving it is that you shouldn't
try to figure out what you did wrong. You simply re-boot the system." I
believe these statements alone signify the amazing courage, intensity,
and optimism of this boy.
I genuinely hope that the above account provided you with a thorough
depiction of "our side of things." Ultimately, if all goes well and you
decide to give Mithun a Playstation 2 following your review of the
information, please send the Playstation 2 (whatever you remain willing
and able to spare-- even a console without games shall be much
appreciated by him, as I may figure out a manner in which to possibly
acquire/rent games later). Please send the PS2 AT YOUR CONVENIENCE (i.e.
preferably prior to August 3, if at ALL possible, since this is the date
of the belated birthday celebration) to the following: A. Jambotkar,
7546 Nestle Avenue, Reseda, CA 91335. (Side Note: This gift is meant
to serve as a celebration surprise for Mithun...I currently am planning
to present him with the gift within a comprehensive package! I remain
110% positive that he shall simply adore the system!)
Once again, I sincerely appreciate your extraordinary show of virtuous
compassion and benevolent kindness and am genuinely anticipating hearing
from you once again. Take care, and God bless!
Sincerely,
A.J. Jambotkar

Updated: Response is the 52nd or so reply to this thread. On Page 2 for me
I just put my PS2 up for auction at Ebay last night. This afternoon I check my email and find this message. How do you think I should respond to him? Think it's a fraud?
Hi. I recently viewed your immensely impressive Playstation 2 upon the
Ebay auction block. Initially, please allow me to introduce myself; I,
A.J. Jambotkar, currently am a student at the American Academy of
Dramatic Arts in Los Angeles.
The impending reason as to why I currently am addressing you remains that
my younger cousin Mithun, who tragically became diagnosed with
lymphocytic leukemia almost seven years ago, is ecstatically celebrating
his seventeenth birthday this year (SIDE NOTE: This remains a thoroughly
shocking phenomenon due to the fact that a plethora of doctors formerly
predicted that Mithun would fail to live past the age of fifteen). You
see, Mithun remains an enormous fan of Playstation 2 but unfortunately
fails to own one; more than anything within this entire world, I would
love to deliver to him this particular system for this truly memorable
occasion. Unfortunately, due to enormous tuition fees, etc., I remain
thoroughly unable to purchase this item for this truly courageous and
spirited soul known as my cousin. What makes matters worse is the fact
that Make-a-Wish Foundation remains unable to assist Mithun in this
request due to the fact that his cancer has not been deemed within the
"terminal phase" yet.
Therefore, since I recently viewed your auction, I currently am wondering
as to whether or not you may remain willing to perhaps donate a
Playstation 2 system to this truly noteworthy cause (i.e. whatever you
remain willing and able to spare shall be much appreciated).
Unfortunately, I remain truly sorry and rather embarrassed to state that
I do not remain within the position to provide you with anything in
exchange except for utter devotion to promoting your website and Ebay
sales to my numerous relatives, acquaintances, and friends at AADA and at
various other nationwide colleges. In addition, I can promise you that
this magnanimous act will provide you with the genuine heart-warming
satisfaction of realizing that you are assisting a cancerous child...I
know for a fact that Mithun wishes for this particular system very much.
Please respond ASAP at this address (i.e. "xxxxxx@juno.com") in regards
to your thoughts concerning this matter within an utterly positive sense,
and I sincerely anticipate hearing from you soon! Once again, I
genuinely appreciate your immense assistance, understanding, and
cooperation in advance.
Sincerely,
A.J. Jambotkar
